I am sure you have heard the phrase : correlation does not imply causation?

If you haven't you should probably look it up.

The Canucks were a different team after that game, they looked defeated and downtrodden, their game took a
significant drop. Not saying fighting produces this reaction, in fact I'd say it rarely does, but in this case I think an argument can be made it did.

For the most part I'd agree with you, fighting is mostly just fun to watch. But there are those cases where it effects the play on the ice and for many games after. The Canucks, and especially their coaching staff were an embarrassed lost group after that game, and being thrown totally for a loop because of Hartley and his tough guys could be a reason why. It's not like I'm the first to suggest that.

Does not preclude, either.

During Tort's suspension the Canucks, predictably, played like a team without a coach and never found their mojo again.

And...when was the last time McGrats confronted a non-fighter?

The Canucks tailspin was because their coach was an idiot and they were probably embarrassed to play for him after that. It wasn't because their players were scared of fighting the Flames players on the ice.

Don't know if I or anyone chalked it up to being scared.

And the Flames improved play?
Is this too correlation without causation?

All i am saying is, fight night didnt end their season. They weren't a very good team all year. The Sedins are aging, Burrows was/is a mess. Kesler did not get along with Tortorella, and no one else really stepped up.

Yes.

The Canucks also had a terrible November. A hot December was really an outlier and then after the Tortorella suspension they returned to November form.

Fighters prevent nothing, besides fan boredom.
Cool, I think Brian McGrattan affects the game whether he's fighting or not.

Yup. Someone made the comment during the last Pens series that the Pens would be a much different team with McGratton on their team. I truly believe that. Crosby would get more room and there would be much less after the whistle stuff with him if Brian was on the team and possibly on his line.

Their record before and after that game show a rather telling story. They weren't a very good team all year but they were much better then the complete gong show of a team they became after that.

OK.
I don't agree, in regard to the Flames.
Sometimes there is a turning point where things are different after. I think this was one.
I'm lot suggesting fighting is particularly valuable. It's entertainment, unless that kind of entertainment offends.
Flames were 5-17-3 when anyone fought... Which only may show fighting mostly occurs when you are playing like crap.
But in my opinion, this incident galvanized the team. Obviously this may be coincidence, I just don't buy it.

Are you going to hand out infractions if it doesn't?

Threads change all the time but when Gaudreau does something amazing here again shortly the thread will go back to amazing gif time fairly quickly. Just relax.

Thread will end pretty quickly actually.
Can't see USA coming back from 4-1 down after 2.

Gaudreau's World Championship is over. Didn't get any points against the Czechs, but was pretty much a factor every shift he got.

He is going to be a fun player to watch.
