haha yeah 4X8 (I even have my own made one!Duh)

Spencer's Gift use to sell the fold up ones, but I think they went bust.

For portability cut the sheet of 4X8 in half (4X4), hinge the bottom, and put on whatever. You can even buy fold up legs to attach with bolts, etc if you want to get fancy

As yes, get OSB, or waterproof stain/paint it.

Maybe we can get a CP poll.
What do you call it?
Beer pong vs. Beirut

"Purists" state that it is beirut as traditional beer pong was played like ping pong.

I'm allergic to beer and have never played this game.

I propose a version with whiskey shots and super-balls!

Finally a thread I can contribute to and know something about.

There are always variations and house rules wherever you play. It seems Beirut is the "correct" name for what most of us know as beer pong, but it is still beer pong to me.

Ten cups each side, triangle, teams of 2, each team gets 1 re-rack request during the game. Elbow must always be behind the end of your table when your throw is made. Bounces can be swatted away but if you get it in it counts as two cups. Swat a non bounce results in a free throw for the other team. Get both ping pong balls into one cup? other team must drink all cups touching that one. Trash talking and using distraction is not only encouraged, but it's mandated. With "spinners" in the cup, guys can finger, girls can blow. Try to get it out and drop it in another cup? Drink em both. On the last cup / ball the team down to 1 cup can continue to play as long as they don't miss again. As soon as they do, game over.

These are abridged house rules here. Use them and dominate.

edit: Regarding building your table, cut out holes on each end so the plastic beer cups fall about a quarter to a halfway down. This eliminates most party fouls (always a tragedy) and makes for a more professional look. All cups should touch on the edges.

That happened once before. It ended very badly for me.

You guys must be old.

I have played beer pong in many places, with many different people, from many different groups and the basic rules are always the same. Throw ball into opponents cup, if you get it in, the opponent drinks.

I had no idea that there were so many variations of what people call "beer pong", but you're all wrong.

^^ agreed
2 teams (can be 1 or more person on each team), throw 2 ping pong balls at a time, if it lands into other teams cup and they drink. Bounce it into the cup or get both ping pong balls in the same cup and they drink + it is balls back.
Optional rules to be clarified - if you go to grab the ball and miss, as soon as it goes back past half, the other team can grab it.
Follow through rules need to be set depending on table size

I really want to get my hands on this

While I agree that most of the rules you posted are the basic standard, we ammend ours to make the game funner, with less cheap wins. They go as follows:

- If you get both balls into one cup, you drink a maximum of 3 of the cups that are touching the cup. This gets rid of someone catching up despite getting their asses kicked cause they sink both balls into the middle cup eliminating 8 cups.

- Fingering is cheap. We play everyone blows despite the innuendo.

- Balls back? We play that if both players on the team sink their balls that team gets to throw again.

- Trick Shot! If the ball bounces of the rim of a cup and the defending team catches it before it bounces of the floor or table, the person that catches it gets a trick shot. You have to call your shot exactly as it's supposed to happen (outside of calling the cup) and it has to be something significantly more difficult then just throwing (i.e. distance throw, behind the back, 3 bounces etc...). If you sink it the other team has to drink two cups and the person that sunk the trickshots turn is over, however their teammate gets to throw their regular turn still. If you miss your trickshot, you get to throw your regular throw. It's basically a free throw where if you get it in the other team has to drink 2 instead of 1. Balls Back applies should both players on the team sink their throw.

- I'm confused by your last rule? If you're down to one cup you have to get it in or its over? Or do you mean if you're down to one cup and the other team sinks it, you can keep playing until you miss? We play the latter. You can "redeem" yourself. You basically have to match the other team and win the game so if the other team sunk your last cup and you have 4 cups left to sink, you get to try and get all 4 of those cups, which would require both players sinking it in for a balls back and/or explosion, or two bounces... etc.

- We also play that if a beer gets knocked over, it counts. I.E. make sure you don't let one of your beers fall over.

Also I do commend you for not playing with rollbacks. I think that is the stupidest rule ever. If the ball rolls back to you after your throw and you grab it before the other team grabs it, you get to throw again. Super lame.

God I love beer pong.

You know whats like Flip Cup, but better? Survivor.

I beleive we are the same age, I have played Beer Pong at pretty much every party I have attended and the rules are generally the same with a few house rules thrown in:

1: Choose who shoots first with stare-down (Opposing players shoot at the same time while keeping eye contact. Teammates alternate until someone sinks a ball. That team shoots first)

2:
- Regular throw=1 cup
- Bounce shot=2 cups, but can be swatted after the bounce
- If both shooting players sink their shots each cup is removed and the scoring team gets balls back.
- If both shooting players sink their shots in the SAME cup: A) 3 cups and balls back OR B) Grenade (all cups touching the sunk cup are eliminated).
- If the ball is spinning above the beer it can be blown out by a girl teammember ONLY. Guys who blow are ridiculed.
- After a shot is taken, if the ball bounces back to the shooter's half of the table and is recovered by the shooting team, they can take a "trick" or "celebrity" shot (through the legs, off the wall, etc..).
- Each team get's one reform of the opposing team cups per game, choose wisely.
- Upon sinking the final cup, the losing team gets rebuttal shots. For each cup sunk during the rebuttal, the ball is returned and the opposing player can again try to stave off elimination. If the balls miss, they lose. If successful, the game continues as such until a winner is established.

Rarities:
- If at any point during the game, a player is taking their sweet time to finish drinking a cup and the opposing team sinks a ball in the cup in their hand, its an auto win.
- If a ball somehow lands on the combined edges of 3 cups (yes I've seen it), all three are elimiated and balls back.
- And, as with any drinking game, a shutout results in a naked lap: Tthe losing team must make a lap around the party sans clothes.

Our rules seem to be quite close. See my post a couple above yours.

Our trick shot rules are different and we don't do the naked lap however that might have to be added depending on who the opponents are!

I was kind of responding to you because your initial post (not the one you're referring too) said that it was just simple throw the ball at the cup and I was like " oh come on man!"

In my experience the ladies rarely participate in naked laps, but it's always hilarious to make your buddies run around a party full of people naked. Generally if a guy has a girl teammate and she refuses the naked lap, the guy has to do two. And we don't just do that with beer pong. Beersbie, Flip cup (although that would be one awful flip cup team), battle shots, etc... can all be improved with a naked lap rule.

One time playing Beersbie me and 2 buddies were down 6-0 (we play to 7) and were all very nervous about our impending naked lap. We won 7-6 it was glorious.

Similarily, one time playing beer pong me and a friend DID get naked lapped but in our rebutal shot my partner hit the other players drink (not a game cup but drink in hand: also an auto-win) and we won. It was a pretty amazing time.

God why am I sitting in this office on this beautiful day when I could be out getting hammered and frolicing nude.
