I hope the Flames don't trade Brodie. They are weak at defence and should be trying to trade LW and C depth for a top D. Then Brodie can move down and be a great second line defenceman with the potential to improve and take over Gio's first line spot in a few years.

Could the 1st overall be in play in any Spezza/Phaneuf rumours? With Spezza/Phaneuf, Luongo & Brian Campbell the Panthers would be a force to be reckoned with... on NHL 2006!

I'd like the panthers to trade first overall to us for the fourth + and then the fourth overall for spezza. We get the first overall pick and spezza makes the panthers better next year.

I don't see 1 year of Spezza or 7 years of Dion getting a top pick back in a trade doesn't make sense for Florida. If Toronto is kicking in the 8th pick then maybe it gets done

I think a deal would nave to include more from both sides. Just would be good if somehow we ended up with the first overall pick and the panthers got marginally better for a couple of years.

Or it's at least giving us something to talk abiut since there isn't much going on for the flames right now and the draft is the next thing involving them.

Attempts to derail the thread seems to just add fuel and life to the thread too.

http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...ade-no-1-pick/

Florida apparently covets Nylander & feel they could get him in the 5-7 range.

Gives you an idea of why Florida is bad year after year. I would be livid if the Flames were trying to trade down the first overall for the 7th pick and a warm body.

I can totally see Vancouver moving up to take Reinhart. Getting a high end center who is from the city would be a huge win for the organization and would get their fans excited

i agree. i think with kesler on the block, he may be involved in them getting another top10 draft pick. I would assume the ducks may be willing to part with the sens top pick in an effort to get kesler, Curious if the panthers would be willing to part with the top pick in an effort to get him, only question is how much would need to be added (by the panthers or the nucks, i can't even tell)?

Tallon saw this thread was drying up with Ehlers so he had to throw us a new bone with Nylander.

The problem is, how many years has Florida had "Great Prospects"? They never go anywhere despite years of high picks. Maybe going this route is better.

So Kesler + 6th to Florida for 1st?

The Sisters for the 1st (+)?

Florida needs to add some NHL caliber skaters and Van needs to dump salary.
