Go Stamps Go! CFL Predictions
It's only exhibition, but it's nice to see the Stamps rally from behind and steal one in BC Place, here's to hoping for a better year in 06!
Burris got the job done when necessary, Lions are shutout in the 4th, I know this won't be the lineups when the season starts, but it's still nice to see this team pull out a victory.
If Ray pulls out a season like he did in 04 they should finish first, but if the Ricky Ray of 06 shows up I don;t think the Esks will be a threat at all.

In case you're interested, on gostampsgo.com there's a predict the score contest for every Stamps game. Last season the winner of the contest (Eddie Bronze) won sideline passes the the last regular season home game...there were also autographed hats & shirts for the top 10. /shameless plug

calfer,
The most important thing is that my ass kicking last year carry over to the team for real. I'd trade finishing last for a trip to Winnipeg. How terrible that sounds on the surface, but CFL fans know what I'm saying.

yes...although with 4 teams per division, I can only imagine it would be tougher than ever to get the crossover

The Captain Crunch sure fire and probably incorrect predictions.
1. Calgary - What a job by Higgin's Hellard and the rest of the Stamps management group. On offense thier just aren't any holes, Burris has the capability of being a top 4 QB in this league, Reynolds, Stallings and Allen make for some great options out of the back field, Copeland and Lewis lead a great receiving corp that will be complimented by Ralph, Rambo and Anderson. The offensive line was solid last year and should be improved since its gained more experience. On defense the front 7 should be outstanding, there is a hole at outside linebacker with the injury to White, but we do have some depth there. The secondary is an ongoing concern, but I think while its the weakest part of the team it should be alright.
2. B.C. Lions - The lions have so many weapons around DD, Warren is a underated back and thier receiving corp is incredibly good. They will be hurt by a weak offensive line. Thier defense should be about the same as last year, but thier secondary strikes me as weak.
3. Edmonton Eskimos - The Eskimos in my mind have problems, thier weak offensive line has lost two more strong players to retirement, and this dosen't help Ricky Ray who really struggled last time, the loss of Jason Mass is going to hurt. Thier running game is alright, but Davis to me isn't the runner that he was three years ago. Thier receiving corp is great, but its tough to use them when as a WB your running for your life. The Esks defese shoud still be strong by thier defections should make them a little weaker, thier secondary looks slow to me.
4) The Green Riders - I'm not sold on the Riders at all, to me Kerry Joseph is a QB who makes bad decisions at the worst possible time, and he didn't really help Ottawa that much as far as being a QB who can make a team into a contender. Outside of Dominguez and Armstead thier receiving corp is relatively weak compared to the west of the west. Thier offensive line is strong but getting older, and the loss of Holmes as a running threat is going to be felt especially if Keith as usual gets hurt. On defense the Riders are set in thier secondary and on thier line, but I think thier linebacking corp is weak compared to the rest of the west. Combine this with the changes in the coaching staff and at key personnel and this team is prime to stumble out of the gate and in a tough west catching up may be hard to do. I think this is the last year for an overrated Roy Shivers and nice guy coach Danny Barrett.
East
Hamilton - What a differnce a year makes, with Jason Mass at QB and Josh Ranek at running back the ti-cats look serious this year, aided by question marks throughout the west the Cats look ready to take over the crown. And good for them as they're getting good fan support.
Toronto- Ricky Williams or not, the Argo's have one of the best 3-4 defenses in the league and should be stingy in the red zone, combine that with what could be a decent 1-2 punch in the backfield with Avery and Williams, a seriously under rated receiving corp, and a intelligent QB in Damon Allen, you have a solid second place team.
Montreal - Never count out Don Mathews, but to me this team is either the best kept secret in the East or a fall waiting to happen. AV is a great QB with a quick release, and he still has a good receiving corp to work with, the Als are going to have trouble running the ball again, but thier defense should bail them out of tough spots.
Winnipeg - Welcome to the west bombers, welcome to your doom. Ok, I'm not sold on Kevin Glenn, but Captain he had good stats last year you say, but a lot of his productivity occurred after a game was out of reach, and teams were playing soft zones. I'm betting that Ontario Smith is a bust and Roberts carries the mail again, thier receiving corp is ok, but nothing special outside of Stegall. And thier defense while strengthened by Barrin Simpson is stronger but thier secondary still looks like the secondary that was considered to be the worst in CFL history.

I'm not going to let you get away with this one...
you're basing part of the Riders being in 1st with "hopefully" good kicker?
I've also gotta ask what makes the Rider's group of receivers good, whereas Calgary's are just 'not bad'?

Ok. I'll upgrade the Calgary recievers to good, only because of Thurmon, he's great.
As for the kicker, I said hopefully because he has only played one game, and did make a 52 or 54 yard field goal in that pre season game, so.......
1) Riders-Good recivers, great defence, good kicker
...
4) calgary- BURRIS SUCKS!!!!!! good recievers......there that make you happy
