I laughed harder and harder with each GIF.

I'm so stoked to see this kid play on our team

After watching the way Johnny handles the puck like silk every time it's on his stick it makes everyone else look like they have hands of stone. Crazy thing is I can probably count on one hand players in the NHL that handle the puck in a similar way.. one of them is in Detroit, one in Chicago. He's gonna be a special one.

Everyone forgets that Gaudreau also gets to the dirty areas, plays in 3 zones, great passer and unreal hockey sense.

Also one great thing that Gaudreau does is changes speeds so well. Thousands of times I've seen him in the neutral zone, 1 v 2, (Gaudreau being the one) and slowly approach the D pair and then just blow through the middle.

I used to think Gaudreau should start in the AHL but his skill is to much fir them and he'd light up the AHL. He belongs with Monahan and Colborne on our 2nd line

Obi-John Gaudreaubi: This is not the puck you're looking for.

Goodness me he is ridiculous sometimes.

I like this line from the article:

"The play was briefly reviewed because the officials couldn't believe how incredibly awesome it was. Or because the puck went in and out of the net so quickly. One of the two."

Generational is pushing it IMO.

I can certainly see him becoming elite though.

At this point, there's no way this guy lives up to the hype the citizens of CP are piling on him.

He's going to be a fine player, we all really need to check our expectations at the door, or we are bound to be disappointed.

Under-promise -> Over-deliver

No, that would be letting the hype get ahead of us.

Should we expect it to happen? No. Should we be surprised if it happens? No.

I see no reason why he couldn't become one of those rare, once-in-a-lifetime players who can control and dominate the game at will. Of course his size holds him back some, but he continues to blow everyone's expectations to smithereens at every new level he plays at. He generates the kind of excitement that tends only to follow generational talents, so I'm not sure why we should limit ourselves to dismissing the possibility. It's real.

uh oh...hype is good but I'd be scared of saying something that could one day end up as the signature of some smug fool on an Oilers forum.

People have been saying precisely these sorts of things for two full years, and he continues to geometrically improve beyond even the wildest expectations. Who had him pegged as a 2.00 point/player in the NCAA last year? Who projected him to be leading Team USA at the WC last summer?

Forget it. The hype is real and it is appropriate.

It's looking extremely promising that he can translate his game to the NHL and if he does the sky is the limit really.
