This seems strange to me. I recall from past tournaments that only those players who were eliminated in the first round of the NHL playoffs were eligible to join their national teams at the WC. Was there a change to the rules, or am I not remembering correctly?

Latvia scores 1-0 over USA on a delayed penalty.

However replays show that Thomas played the puck on the delayed penalty but the refs didn't blow the whistle.

Gaudreau on the ice for both goals against now.

Edit: Not his man (both defenders collapsed on the initial shooter) but he coasted into the d-zone and probably could have taken the open guy.

Power ranking at iihf are pretty funny...

Quote:
1. Russia Russia: Sochi Bear sits on Ovi’s lap and looks happier
2. Sweden Sweden: Fun fact: 99 (Gretzky) – 13 (Sundin) = 86 (Klasen)
3. Canada Canada: As AC/DC said, “If you want blood, you got it”
4. Latvia Latvia: Thank God Shea Weber doesn’t play for Kazakhstan
5. France France: The Slovaks went through a Baptiste of fire
6. Norway Norway: Sondre Olden would have been cheaper than David Clarkson
7. Belarus Belarus: Sergei Makarov. Sergei Fyodorov. Sergei Kostitsyn.
8. Czech Czech Republic: We’re finding new and innovative ways to lose
9. Finland Finland: Nightwish just put Rammstein in a chokehold
10. USA United States: Viktor Tikhonov looks pretty good for an 83-year-old
11. Germany Germany: Sadly, we did zip for Zepp – time to play with way more pep
12. Denmark Denmark: We cut back on pre-game beer and hot dogs
13. Italy Italy: At least we’re not doing community service
14. Kazakhstan Kazakhstan: Say “Zhailauov from Krasnoslobodtsev” ten times fast
15. Slovakia Slovakia: Satan is real, and he skates among us
16. Suisse Switzerland: It’s like William Tell shooting himself in the keister
