I'd agree only because their forward prospect base is quite depleted (I am assuming you are referring strictly to prospects and not young players).

However, calling that list solid is very generous. Aside from Nurse, they have a few who at most would pan out to be #3 dmen (Klefbom, Musil, Marincin, Simpson). In all likelihood they are probably more 4-6 types.

While I love to read posts about the Oilers ineptitude, there's a whole thread with 5000+ posts devoted to the topic that isn't getting enough love. Move it over there.

I thought I clicked on World Championship thread to find out what is going.... then I started reading about the Oilers. I had to go back and checked again and it is World Championship thread..WTF!! I don't care about the Oilers, I think there is already a thread for that.

Anyways, I missed a few days already..what did I missed? Team Canada, Gaudreau or Backs, how are they doing?

I would put Marincin and Klefbom ahead of any of our D prospects at the moment. They are quite good young prospects.

They also have Nurse who looks promising and had a great year.

Three teams have no wins so far - Kazakstan, Switzerland and Slovakia.

Germany, Italy, Denmark and France have wins... but Switzerland and Slovakia have none. Brutal year for Swiss hockey so far after last year's silver at the Worlds.

EDIT: Swiss are up 2-1 over Germany right now.

I thought Nurse had an awful (2nd half) of the season. After he was left off the WJC team his numbers plummeted and I read that he was being boo'ed at games by home town fans.

I've been looking at the Swiss - Ger. game trying to spot Draisaitl and his skating prowess. I haven't seen him on the ice. Swiss leading 3-2 after two.

The Swiss have no wins because they came to WC with Reto Berra as their #1 goalie.

That's because they haven't got in a shootout.

Berra and Switzerland get their first win, 3-2 over Germany. Berra made 22 saves.

No, tomorrow. Canada plays Denmark and the US plays Latvia. They are both early games at 7:30 Calgary time.

Was just about to post similar, some peoples obsession with the oilers on this forum is pathetic

From what I've seen, he's played pretty well, and I doubt the losses are all his fault.

Not saying I'm unhappy with what we got for him in the trade.

Haula joins team Finland. Granlund, Koivu and Jokinen give it a pass, all give injuries as the reason.

Määttä is undecided.

Marincin? Really? I wouldn't. Wotherspoon is ahead of Marincin in my opinion. He's had a tough year and only got time in Edm because their NHL defense was terrible. Klefbom yes. But I wasn't comparing to the Flames depth. We have a similar situation right now in our system. A lot of potential 4-7 guys but no blue chip studs. For the Oilers they have Nurse but nothing special otherwise.

EDIT...back on topic though. I am derailing the thread...more WC talk.

Agree, Tspoon is better than Marincin

Bit back on WC I love seeing all the Flamers in Minsk, especially Johnny Guadreau and Sean Monahan. Even more when Johnny Hockey does this

No idea how many times I watched that
