Love the GOLF PRO Canucks jersey. If only that logo crest was available, I would buy one for a friend. A good gag jersey would be getting a Leafs fan a jersey with number 67 and "NO CUPS SINCE" for a name bar.

I wouldn't get my own name on a jersey but it's just down to preference. You paid for the jersey, you paid for the customization, do what you want with it.

Some fans are more loyal to the club and will be around longer than the players. Not to mention pay huge sums of money for tickets and merchandise. The way I see it, you are supporting the team's existence...you have a right to feel like part of the club's broader family. Nothing wrong with getting your name on a jersey.

I know it's immature but I find it hilarious to yell out someone's name as displayed on their name bar. I'm against having your name on the jersey. I don't find it disrespectful to the team, I just don't think anyone over 16 years old should have their name on the jersey. Seems childish.

Yeah, do what you want. I think it's kind of silly for anyone over 13 years old to want their own name on an NHL jersey but to each their own.

I'm also not a big fan of getting the name and number of a player due to the chances of them being traded. The only time I ever did was with an Iginla team Canada jersey. I was pretty sure he wasn't going to become Swedish all of a sudden.

I remember back in the late 80's playing ball hockey and this asshat showing up in a Flames jersey with the #9 crested on it and the words "Old Man" on the back. We asked him why he did it and his response was that Lanny McDonald was washed up and over rated. Well, we tackled him to the ground and ripped the sweater off him and tossed it in the trash. We also told him that disrespecting a player like Lanny was not cool, and if he tried to retrive his jersey from the garbage he was going to get a beat down

Often times people receive jerseys with their names on them as birthday/Christmas presents & such. I don't really think people should feel some stigma which makes them less likely to wear that shirt just because some zealot feels there should only be official players names and numbers on there. Wear whatever you want, especially if it has the flaming C!

That being said, I've only ever had jerseys with Fleury 14 & Iginla 12 on the back. It wouldn't cross my mind to buy a jersey with my name on it, tbh. It'll be Monahan or Gaudreau next, I think!

What makes getting another man's name on your back any more mature? When you think of it its almost a form of idol worship to get an NHL player on your jersey, which should be strange for any adult to do.

For the record, I have some player jerseys, so not pointing a finger at it...but its kind of strange to think that somehow getting your own name is childish and immature, yet getting another man's name on your back is somehow perfectly fine.

Not necessarily more mature. But, getting your name on the back of the jersey kind of says I'm part of the team or one day I want to be a Flame. When a child does it, it's cute and acceptable. Ok if a kid feels like he's on the team, or if his dream is to one day play for the Flames and the jersey helps him or her live or represent their dream.

As an adult, you should know you aren't on the team, and having a dream that one day you might be..........isn't cute, it isn't inspiring, it's just kind of sad cause there's a detachment from reality there.

Although I don't call people out on this (because it's none of my business) but I think it's odd how often people use "we" and "us" when talking about a team. I'm guilty of this from time to time. I guess it's a measure of how successful these leagues are in framing themselves in their fans' minds.
