I think the Worlds would have been good as well, like when young players get to play there.
He didn't have a good playoffs?

Poor guy. Probably not the year he thought he was going to have. Time to put it behind him, get healthy and rest up.

Yes and no. I read comments from ward at the end of the regular season and it was not the most glowing review. He said he had a long ways to go on off ice issues and while his defensive play had gotten better it was nowhere were it needed to be.
That's not to say Sven won't work hard on those things in the off season, but if he doesn't he is going to have a hard time making the big club out of camp next year. Not the end of the world if he needs another full season in the AHL next year.

In hindsight this injury could put more focus Sven working on his upper body strength. A leaner meaner Sven would probably help establish himself.

Do you have a link? The comment about off ice issues is interesting. I am not sure exactly what Ward could mean by that. I'd be interested to see the full article/interview/whatever and see the context of his comments.

Diet, rest, gym, discipline or alcohol all come to mind as possible issues. On the bright side every single prospect will know they have got to be complete professionals to make the Flames. Even if Sven never works out there is a silver lining.
The hardships Sven is facing will only drive other prospects to work harder because they'll know it must take a lot to make the team when a guy with as much talent as Sven can't do it and its good to iron out discipline issues for Sven now as opposed to in 5 years. The Flames prospect system is doing this the right way.

Sven was amongst the best shape players at both the prospect camp and main camp in September. Let's not act like he's lazy.

The "doesn't look good' comment had me concerned as well. Relieved to hear its not another concussion.

I've heard Ward talk about Sven and I don't think the phrase off ice issues is what he said. In fact in the interview I just heard on the fan he was quite positive

Pfff, evidence. If some posters can't just character assassinate one of our best prospects without any evidence what type of society are we living in?
Pretty sad that this is still going on. I wonder who people turn on next.

Don't think this was directed at me but I certainly don't see Sven as lazy, if anything I hope he just keep getting better and stronger.

That's fully what I expect once we get a shiny new toy in this draft.

I don't know who is calling Sven lazy. Most people couldn't make the Heat. I do wonder if he's done anything to tick off the coaching staff aside from his defensive issues though.

Never sounded to me like the coaching staff was ever ticked at him, more just hard on a high end prospect with defensive isssues. Nothing wrong with that.

And that's the root of this. WHAT makes you wonder this? A non-existent quote? An injury at the World Championships has ticked off his AHL coaches?
You're inventing something and then feeding it with your own speculation.

Lol. Character assassination ? Go to heat thread, page one of April 11th game day thread.
I do apologize because I was going off what I remembered. The actual term was he had to work on day to day things.
And again how is what I read from Ward character assassination? He is young and has to work on some things. He is not a god or robot. Jesus some of CP really can't take the slightest negative comment on a prospect.

It's not about a single comment, it's about a lot of posters repeating a "bad attitude" mantra so much that it kind of became a thing.
It's embarrassing how a lot of people turned on this kid this year, while citing personal faults which there was no evidence of as the reason.

Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't heard anything about off-ice issues at all about Sven. In fact, I had thought he was receiving some positive comments from the coaches near the end of the year. I think he'll have a much better year next year.
