Icon45 Leafs keep Carlyle and extend his contract. Fire rest of coaching staff.

Damien Cox @DamoSpin
NHL sources now saying Carlyle will be returning, but not rest of the staff. Waiting for Leaf confirmation shortly.

Does Carlyle pick his own new coaching staff?

Without a better defense and goalie nothings gonna change in Toronto. They won't keep Carlyle next year when his contract is up

Really odd move if true. Does anyone know if Carlyle inherited the existing staff when he was brought on?

Weird....

he's going to be such a lame duck coach next year. Any type of losing streak and he's gone.

Well if the rumour is true and the Leafs are targeting Babcock next year,it makes sense to keep Carlyle another year.

All specualtion though.

Chris Dennis Assistant Coach
Rick St. Croix Goaltending Coach

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
TOR GM Dave Nonis expected to make official announcement on Carlyle staying/assistant(s) going. New assistants have not yet been hired.

My Leaf fan friend keeps saying this and I just don't get it. At best I would put him on par with Ramo albeit with more NHL experience.

Two more years past this coming season, three in total.

I'm almost speechless. Leaf Nation is in full meltdown mode on Twitter, and I can't blame them at all. Caryle spent the entire offseason, plus two weeks at the Olympic break, trying to get them to be a better possession team, which results in a epic flameout. If their possesion numbers stay the same, and their luck runs out on goaltending (like it did at the end of the season) and scoring, they will challenge for last place overall.

I loathe the Leafs, but today I truly feel sorry for their fans. MLSE is the biggest joke in professional sports.

I would be fine having him back up Ramo. Much better than Joey Mac but that isn't saying much. Pretty sure my cat would be better than JM.

Farrish has a long history with Carlyle and Burke.
