I'm hoping for something bad ass like:
Outlaws
Bandits
Marauders
Raiders
Desperados
Of course, black jerseys with white trim.
EDIT: In retrospect, I really don't like the Heat name. Stupid singular names. It's a pain in the ass to use in a sentence and it sounds dumb when you use it. You have to say, "...was the only Heat player to score..." instead of something smooth like, "...was the only Bandit to amass 57 penalty minutes in a game..."

Quote:
Dear Brad and Michael,
I know you have both been here before. You’ve seen the Civic Center, you’ve probably scratched your head while circling the roundabout, but what you can’t measure in a visit, what you can’t evaluate with a spreadsheet is fan loyalty and dedication.
How do you measure heart?
How do you measure soul?
This was a Red Wing town for 20 years. Forget about the Rangers, Islanders or Bruins, this was a Red Wing town. It didn’t matter who was playing down the road, we had Red Wing T-shirts and sweaters and banners.
We believe the Flames are a franchise like the Red Wings were when they first came to Glens Falls. They counted on draft picks and young talent to be groomed for the NHL. They wanted those kids to not only learn how to kill a power play, but to learn how to win and keep their composure with the fans rattling the roof off an old barn where hockey was the only game in town on a cold January night.
I was there in 1989 when the Red Wings won the Calder Cup and my ears are still ringing.
You need to talk to George Champion about this community. George took tickets at the door the entire life of the Red Wings and beyond. When he retired, he had an entryway named in his honor. What kind of place names an entryway after a ticket taker?
Glens Falls does, and if there wasn’t so much red tape, it would have been the street in front of the Civic Center.
You need to talk to George about community, about how the young players you have invested in will be treated.
You need to talk to Barry Melrose, Glenn Merkosky and Bill Dineen about this community. They all came here for hockey and they all stayed. There are plenty of others.
For the past five years, we’ve had a stinker of a hockey team. We didn’t complain (Well, maybe a little). Nobody started a petition to fire the coach or run the Flyers out of town. We just rooted a little harder and hoped they would turn it around.
If you sign on the dotted line, this community will embrace you and your team.
If you make the playoffs, you will own the city. You will get a parade.
We know Calgary is a long way off, but if you come we will even lengthen the runway at the Warren County airport. Actually, we were going to do that anyway.
Best of luck the rest of the way in the playoffs. We hope you beat Grand Rapids and we hope to see you in Glens Falls soon.
Sincerely,
Ken Tingley, former sports editor and current editor of The Post-Star.

Now that's what ya wanna hear isn't it? If all goes as planned and our AHL affiliate plays like we expect, the loyal fans of Glens Falls will have one helluva team to support next year. Maybe even a Calder Cup contender?

They got their cup the year we got ours.
Definitely counts for something.

Reading up on Adirondack and they seem to have a history of loggers/ outdoorsmen and horse wranglers. Maybe there is a name to be found in their folklore?

Adirondack Flames with the retro colours and the Flaming A. Best possible outcome. Can't be said enough, please make that happen. That logo is boss.

Would love that... but only if Calgary goes with the old school colors as well. Would suck if the minor league team had better looking primaries then the big club

Hope this works out. The whole Abbotsford thing struck me as the business side making a decision that was detrimental to the hockey side. Putting a team a billion miles from the rest of the league to save money didn't sit right.

Notwithstanding the fact that the city of Abbotsford paid most of the bills, the move to the Fraser Valley was most certainly not about saving money. It was easily the more expensive option. It is pretty obvious that the Flames anticipated the formation of a Pacific Division for the AHL and hoped to lead the way. Victoria was an ECHL market at the time and would have been an ideal location for the Canucks' AHL team.
Unfortunately - on top of picking a bad location to pick up local support - they were about six years ahead of the curve on that one. Ironically, now that it seems a Pacific Division might happen for 2015-16, the Flames have gone the other way and signed a multi-year deal out east. Go figure.
And as far as jersey styles go, if Glens Falls takes on a moniker similar to the Flames, expect something similar to the current uniform design. They won't go retro for the minor league team unless they go retro here too. (pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease)

Would they have moved to Abbotsford if the city hadn't agreed to cover any losses?

They could always go with the Adirondack Hots.

True, but it would need to be pronounced with an upstate accent like this: Hahts.
And, they would need to have a flaming wiener on their jersey. They could be the Red Hahts or the White Hahts: http://rocwiki.org/Hots

Team directory map link illustrates graphically just how much travel was involved from Abbotsford. As has been suggested previously, will make a huge difference in travel and practice time

Dunno, but the Flames were clearly intent on having their farm team closer to Calgary for some time. Quad City and Omaha were also western outposts in the AHL - though obviously quite a bit closer to the rest of the league than Abby. IMO, you are trying to re-arrange the facts to suit your conclusion rather than the other way around.

I do like the look of the old barn they've got there. Remind me of an older junior rink. I imagine it can get rocking if you fill it up.

The Flames moved to Quad Cities and that group took the vast majority of the losses. It was the Abbotsford side that talked about being the first of the west coast teams - not the Flames.
https://blogs.calgaryherald.com/2009...ppear-part-ii/
But not a giant concern either way.
