Diamond said Thursday that city and Flames officials have discussed a three-season lease at the Civic Center with an option for two more seasons.
Diamond said Friday that if the Flames do relocate their AHL affiliate to Glens Falls, it would be on a long-term basis.
He said a three-season contract with an option of two more seasons is the standard contract terms for most AHL teams.
“It hasn’t been indicated to me that this is just a stop-over,” he said.

Someone on the Facebook fanpage said a few days ago that "adirondackflames" was recently purchased as a domain name, dunno how to verify.

Yeah... looks like someone got it on Friday. But it could be a 'squatter' looking for a few bucks. Register information is blocked.

May 2, but it appears to have been registered through a shell, so there is nothing that would identify a certain hockey team in Calgary as the owner:
http://www.whois.net/whois/adirondackflames.com
adirondackheat.com was registered at the same time.

Why didn't Abbotsford use it?

Is the logo specifically owned by the Calgary Flames L.P. or by the NHL?
I seem to recall the NHL owning the Jets 1.0 logo and then giving the rights to True North.

Flames use it for the alternate captains already so I assume they own it.

I believe the NHL holds the rights to defunct team logos. There's a snowball's chance in Phoenix that they wouldn't let the Flames use it for a team in Adirondack, however.

This is pretty exciting for me. I live less than an hour away from the Glens Falls Civic Center. I'm hoping to get the chance to see some games with the Flames prospects. Abbotsford rarely (if ever?) came to Glens Falls or Albany.
As cool as it would be for Flames fans to see the Flaming A on a jersey again, I'm thinking that the folks around here might prefer an original team name. After years of hosting the Adirondack Red Wings and the Adirondack Phantoms (previously the Philadelphia Phantoms when they played at the Spectrum), it might be time for a team name that the community could identify with.

Is it Glen's Falls, does Glen own the falls? Are they Glen's Falls?
Or Glens Falls. Why is it plural? Its weirding me out.

Why get rid of the possessive apostrophe despite the fact that they were indeed Glen's Falls. Are they screwing with us?

I feel bad for the people that will be affected by the move from Abbotsford. But I can't help but think there will be a ton of positives associated with the move. Just look at the AHL map sometime. The Heat were a million miles away from the rest of the league. I know it was quick for recalls but it's really not that much of a factor with flight travel now. Troy G Ward won't know what to do with all that practice time. It will be nice to have a home ice advantage when we play on home ice too.

And being in an area that will support the team a bit better might be a big positive too.

John Shannon @JSportsnet
While not definite, expect the Adirondack region team to keep "Heat" name...Flyers AHL team will be Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
#Flames officially announce their AHL affiliate will move to Glens Falls. Expect a new name, too. Adirondack Heat are a local baseball team.
Fully expect Shannon to be wrong.

Does Adirondack have obscure civic organization that they could name the team after?

An interesting tidbit that has been floating around in my head since I heard the Heat were moving to Glens Falls (Adirondack):
The Saint John Flames played their first ever home game on October 19, 1993 against the Adirondack Red Wings. Weird to see things come full circle a little over 20 years later.
