Recomendations for House Painting
Hey Guys just wondering if anyone's had a good experience getting their house exterior painted recently, or would like to share a recommendation for competent fairly priced work.

For exterior painting, we used College Pro last year and they were great. Did many touch ups on the wood prior to painting and it looks great after. Would highly recommend.
Let me know if you need the number of the guy I used specifically. I'm not sure how wide reaching his territory is and I'm in Okotoks so not sure if and how much into Calgary he does.

I used About Painting for exterior and was really disappointed with them - they didn't do a great job and we later discovered they'd used indoor paint instead of outdoor paint for all the trim so by the next summer it was peeling. We asked them to fix it the next summer but they just touched up all the peeling areas instead of covering all of the interior paint.

I don't recommend Hardings Painting. They don't bother to sand or scrape previous paint. Just slop it over the pre-existing and expect a quality result.

Had hardings give me an estimate for some outside work, told them two days ago that we were ready to move forward and I have yet to hear back from the guy.......now going to look into other options.......somewhat dissapointed that he is not grabbing at this low hanging fruit......

Sounds like them. All talk no skill. They are quite a large firm for some reason. Also, they won't start on time and then you will notice the above which is even worse, because they might as well not start.

Another one to avoid - The Urban Painter. Took forever to paint our outside trim and were supposed to do 2 coats. I noticed that they barely did one coat when I had to point out all the spots they missed and I could see the old paint.

a few years back we used Mountain View Painters. These guys were great. They painted my stucco, had a few problems with having it take evenly. Once they figured it out. They hand rolled 3 coats and then sprayed just to make sure it looked perfect.
Professional and a great price. I will always go back to them.

That's pretty bad. Exterior painting is not tricky, just hard work sometimes. You shouldn't have to keep an eagle eye on on any painting contractor, but when starting a job you should hear the scrapers and sandpaper for a minimum of 2 hours of prep.
Use the correct product, do a good job of prep and apply the product with good technique. That's all there is to it.
Anyways, I have a thread in the Power Ring and have time coming up to do some work.

Whatever you do, don't go with Cutting Edge Painting. That guy (Jonah) did a crap job painting our condo. Also gave my gf false information on discount (suppose to be 20%), which never happened (we have to pay full price).
If you want a list of things this guy did wrong, just PM me. I will list it on the thread too if people really want to know.

Really curious....what's the time and cost like to get a house painted. Just order of magnitude. $3000? $15000? A week of time?
I need to get my old 2-storey done but have no idea what the touch will be.
