Next year is going to suck for sports fans. What the hell?

See ya Grant, enjoy your retirement.

He's been working on Calgary TV for as long as I've lived here.

Crazy summer for media retirements.

The last episode of Sports @ 11:30. Some good clips in here...including of the Flames in-locker Cup celebration.

You're a young pup. It was Henry Viney and Eric Bishop for me. CONGRATULATIONS GRANT!

put my boy on the TV this past season and called a few plays. He was thrilled, we may never delete this from the PVR. Thanks, Grant, for that and many other things you've done in the 20 years I've been watching.

I loved Sports at 11:30. What a great team. I was pretty young during most of the years the show was on but I tried to never miss an episode. I remember sneaking out of bed to watch the show.

I loved the old school Flames broadcasts on 2&7. Those were great times.

Barb Higgins, Darryl Janz, Ed Whalen, Grant Pollock, Peter Maher all gone from the CGY airwaves.

Ron McLean and Don Cherry are probably soon to go as well.

You see/hear these guys all the time. They kind of become a big part of your life...as weird as that sounds.

somewhat surprised that GP has been on air for 30 yrs......unfortunately local sports news has really been marginalized by TSN/SN/the Score and it seems like it is now a 5 minute segment buried somewhere......

i recall reading how dissapointed Grant was when Ed retired, and the flames games moved away from 7

wonder if Mike L is applying for some of these jobs......

I remember seeing Ed Whalen just after his retirement. The poor guy had some form of Alzheimer's/dementia. So sad to see the confusion on this poor guy's face when every second person was going up to him to say hello.

Mike is doing okay right now with his own production company and I doubt it's worth it to get back into local network sports. As you said local sports news has been pretty marginalized once TSN and then RSN became big players. I still remember having to wait up until after 11:00 just to see Flames highlights of out of town games and you usually only saw a couple of highlights from say a Flames vs Nordiques game. Now not only are all games televised, the you can see highlights every 30 minutes in the evening making it pointless to tune into the late night local news for sports.

I would not be surprised to see Ryan Leslie rejoin Global.
