Default Computer always freezing

I've been having a lot of issues with the computer the last few weeks. The problems started when I was adjusting some photos and then the computer shutdown and began beeping. Since then it's been freezing up quite a bit at random times. Sometimes it's when I'm surfing the net, other times it will boot up and freeze on the desktop.

This morning has been the worst by far. It worked fine earlier in the morning, then about 20 minutes later I turn it on and nothing comes on the screen but the CPU is constantly beeping. I had to manually power down and tried several times to restart with no luck, nothing would happen. Finally got it started and it got to and froze on the error recovery screen. Tried a few more times to get it going and finally got it started in safe mode with networking but then it froze again.

I was just able to get it started in normal mode and am going to try to back up my photos before it crashes again.

I've run virus and spyware/malware checks and they came back fine. Did a defrag and ran ccleaner it they made no difference. All my windows updates are current as is other stuff like java, etc.

Any ideas on what could be causing these issues?

Check your motherboard make sure none of your capacitors have round or brown tops. If not try running a RAM tester, those are usually my first suspects of random freezes.

You have to listen to the beeps and determine what error they are trying to convey to you.

If they are longer beeps, it's probably bad ram.

I've only heard the beeps on three occasions. Usually it just freezes up or restarts. When the beeps happen it's as if the computer turns off because the screen goes black and the power light on the CPU goes out too except when it beeps the light comes on orangish. I seem to recall it being a series of 4 beeps per cycle and continues until I hold the power button in to manually shut it down.

If you google your motherboard model number and find the manual you can find out what the beeps are saying. It could be almost anything including power supply, RAM, video card, etc.
