Great win! Hopefully we can repeat it in a few weeks in the playoffs, presuming we get past Colorado.

Also, betting the Stealth end up moving again fairly quickly. Still think they should give Winnipeg a try:

7 goals for Dickson last night and big Frankie with some huge saves in OT. Confidence building win to say the least but they are going to have to tangle with the Mammoth first round and they will be a tough test.

So the postseason gets underway with the Roughnecks playing the Mammoth Saturday. YAY!

Just noticed today that they have changed the playoff format for this year: http://www.calgaryroughnecks.com/sit...ews&newsID=438

The first round stays as a single elimination game, while the next two rounds do a best of two...or maybe best of two and a half, with an extra 10 minutes being played if they are tied at 1 game each. Sounds like a stupid way to do it; possibly just for boosting up the number of home games the winner of the division gets revenue from?

I'm use to it from English/European football so it will be interesting to see how it plays out over here. Just the other day I was thinking they should do something similar but in the first round instead so every team would have at least one home playoff date.

It's such a terrible system.

Would rather the first two rounds were single elimination, and the final a best of three.

Building availability and booking makes a best of three hard to pull off. I think that would be the leagues preference if they could do it

I don't see Calgary taking the Mammoth lightly tonight so the game could come down to goaltending and discipline for the Roughnecks.

On Thursday Mammoth goalie Dillon Ward had his only set of gear stolen. I haven't been able to find any update on whether it was recovered or not.

The Vancouver Stealth are loaning him a set of equipment. Athan Ianucci is bringing the gear from Vancouver for Ward to use.

Interesting storyline as I don't know how well the gear will fit him - a change like that could be huge.

According to the Mammoth the team received offers from multiple teams to loan equipment - but NOT from the Riggers.

Not to mention back to backs are normal in NLL (weekend play). 3 games in 3 nights would be brutal. Unless you wait a week which would be too long of a wait.

You could go midweek with the first game. Regardless, I get why they do it in soccer, but the two-game set destroys the winner-take-all format that makes the old system much better. C'est la vie.

Anyway, judging by what's showing as available on Ticketmaster, there's going to be a huge crowd tonight!

In all fairness to Calgary, I don't see where they would have a spare set of gear to offer. It's rare that a goalie carries extras.

But maybe have lost snider. They don't have a chance vs Edm without him.

Crawl out for the face-off, win it, pass it off, crawl back to the bench.

Here's the whole game, start watching around 2:37:00 to see a big save from Poulin and the overtime winner.

Saturday was the first game my boy and I had attended. He is a second year tyke, playing in his third year of Lacrosse.

He loves the sport, and we both loved Saturday night. It really is a great sport. I thought the Roughnecks put on a great show. Although, the players really are only P/T pro's the whole event came of a first class.

We can't make this coming weekend, as he has games in Stettler, otherwise we would be there again. Hell $100 bucks for 2 tickets 11 rows from the floor can't be beat.

Not sure if anyone else got to the reception before the game on Saturday but there was a Q&A with GM Mike Board and he had a few interesting things to say.

The Vancouver franchise is actually in better shape than it looks. They have a great deal with the Langley venue and although they lost some money this year it wasn't nearly as bad as when they were in Everett. The arena holds about 5500 and at 5000 is about the break even point. Once they gain some popularity in the area they should be OK. Also, many of their players are from nearby and travel costs are much lower now. There were other expenses mentioned as well that had decreased because of the new location.

Going forward, Board wants to increase the size and speed of the team. Unfortunately because of their success in recent years, those types of players were usually gone in the draft by the time they got to pick.

Personally, I'm OK with smaller players as long as they are effective. Dobie and Evans can be on my team any day.

Is GM Mike Board the same Mike Board that posted on CP (Fire on Ice) ages ago?
