Ask them who they're bumping to get into Heaven. That often stops them in the middle of thier speil.

I have no issue with them coming to my door. In my experience, and as others have said, they are respectful, never pushy, leave when asked, respect my opinion on religion and faith albeit different from theirs, and they always show up at appropriate times.
I respect the fact that they have such dedication to their beliefs and are willing to go to the houses of people like some of the posters in this thread who will subject them to certain ridicule and ignorance. I don't agree with their message but I don't understand how some people get off treating them like crap.
Others here may have different experience than me and I agree that no one pushes their way into my house uninvited, I have physically removed pushy energy salesmen from my property, but JWs have never been that way with me, I always forward respect and acceptance first. Pretty sad to hear some of the comments here, it's like a throwback to all the male chauvinists before women's rights.

I have relatives that are JWs and have hung out with other JWs. For the most part they are pretty normal people. I don't understand the need to be rude to them. They are jusr doing what they believe. Instead of being rude, why not be honest and politely tell them you are not interested and do not call back here again. I was told they will make a record of that and respect your wishes.

What part of don't come back don't they understand? They are like that itch in your back that you can't scratch.
Another thing. Don't keep shoving that Watchtower paper in my face and asking for money!

I have never had them ask for money and I always tell them I won't read the Watchguard and they they ask me if I'll take it anyway just in case I decide to and I say yes then I dispose of it. I really don't feel like anyone is shoving anything in my face. Likely a similar experience as you Dion we just have different perspectives and interpretations on the experience.

I just look out my peep hole. If it's someone I don't recognize who clearly isn't a post-man I don't answer. Easy.

It should be pretty simple...unless it's an emergency or I know you, don't come to my house without an invitation. Maybe I'm just overly private, but I don't care what you're selling or how polite you are, I find it extremely rude to show up at someones house unannounced like that.

Anyway.
1) In general JWs will be local. In certain areas there will be JWs visiting from a heavily covered territory (big cities like NYC, etc, are always well covered by JWs, whereas more rural areas rarely have enough JWs to cover the territories involved, so a group of JWs from a heavily covered area will take like a week and visit a more rural area to help them cover their territory). So normally you're dealing with local JWs who are volunteering their time/resources for it.
2) If you get irritated at JWs coming to your door, at least as far as I've always known, you can inform the JW at your door that you do not want them to return. JWs keep records of those things, and it will likely keep them away from your home permanently (or at least for a number of years).

I had some stop by on a Saturday morning a few years ago. Then saw the woman in casual clothing (jeans) at the grocery store a few hours later.
I would always take the brochures and say "thanks", thinking being polite was the quickest way to get rid of them. However, they kept staking us out on Saturdays. I would come back home from my kids hockey practice and a car full of them would be waiting down the street from my house. A minute after we walked in the door the door bell would ring. It didn't help that the widow next door would invite them in for coffee and told them all of our names. Finally, one Saturday I just told them that we really were not interested. Havent seen them in two years.

Whats the reward? Just joy at knowing that they saved a soul? Or do they have a conversion quota to meet? Or do they just get a kick out of having a high count? The religious equivalent of how many chicks you banged?

Have you actually said to them, "Please don't call on me again?" And they actually cannot ask for money in Alberta. They do not have a licence to solicit donations.

i don't mind them and treat them with respect but if you want to be an #######/git then just throw in the fact that they're worshipping false idols and according to religous dogma will burn in hell...oh the reaction!!

Yeah, they must be pretty simple minded if slamming the door in their faces, is interpreted as please come back later. Are JHs simple minded robots that can only understand a pre-determine number of verbal lines?

hahaha!!! When I saw this thread I just remembered what my mom says to them once. She was busy doing housework when the Jehovah Witness rang the door bell. She opened up the door and Jehovah person firs word is 'Do you believe that there is Satan?' With no hesitation, she said it angrily 'Yes and he is standing right in front of me.'. then she slammed the door and went back doing her housework. She didn't even realized how funny that was until later in the day.

This is the answer to the original question posed. Man up and politely tell them you are not interested and do not call again. Rudeness isn't necessary. It's pretty sad reading some of the comments in this thread.

This.
What is wrong with just saying, "Sorry, not interested", and politely closing the door?
And they are not shoving stuff down your throat unless you engage in a conversation with them.
Politely saying no thank you and closing the door deals with the situation.
