Reinhart, Granlund, Baertschi
Gaudreau, Arnold, Poirier
Ferland, Knight, Agostino
Van Brabant, Olson, Wolf
I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed seeing every one of those guys spending another year in the AHL.

Yes. He's by no means a consistent player however at parts of the season you could see him start to play a better defensive game and turn on some of his offence, however it only lasted a game or two at a time. Most of the games this season you'd have to really look to see if he was playing, he disappeared most nights. He was 10th on the team in scoring in the same place scoring wise as college guys Ben Hanowski and Josh Jooris, both who went through horrible slumps as part of the normal college learning curve. He also sat 11th on the team for SOG with just 87 in 41 games. For someone whose supposed to be more offensive upside to make up for the lack of defensive play, it doesn't really speak well for him.

I think the Flames would choose to keep him in the AHL for another year and get him playing consistent hockey with bigger minutes then he would see playing in the NHL the same way because at this point he's a 4th liner in the NHL, maybe. Keep Sven and Knight together in the AHL for another year and let them develop the chemistry that Reinhart and Granlund did that allowed both of them to take their game to the next level.

We found him on the Aces team and signed him.

He's been in the Alaska system for awhile. Played for the University of Alaska for 4 years and then was a player on the Aces for 4 years. He's signed PTO's with OKC and Houston Aero's but only got a few games. He seems to have stuck in Abbotsford.

Edit: He's apparently still on the Aces playoff roster so we could send him back and let him go on the Aces playoff run now too.

I figure the Flames AHL Club takes LaFranchise and Olson with them next year. Both played well.

Garnet Hathaway will be going for sure, I believe he signed a 2 year deal. Carter Bancks will likely go as well as he is still an unsigned RFA with the Flames for another year.

I am also torn on offering Olson an NHL deal, he was fantastic this year and grew so much as a player. Most improved player is easily Olson or Ferland. But on the other hand he is 27 now.

Brett just got a later start on things then most. He was 21 when he started his college career and graduated when he was 25/26 so he's 3 years behind where most college guys would be. If you compare him to the "typical" college kid, they usually take a couple years out of college to get used to the AHL/NHL sort of game before they make an impact in the lineup.

I don't see the harm in the Flames offering him some sort of $750K range two way contract and giving him a try. Best case, he makes it into the lineup and becomes a solid 4th liner for the big club. Worst case, he becomes a leader piece of the AHL lineup like Carter Bancks and mentors our prospects and perhaps shows them how to play a bit more of a physical forward game.
