Probably not worth what we have to add to 4 to get the top pick

Oilers could do Yak+3 for 1+?(Kulikov)

Given our payroll capacity, I think we have chips to play that many other teams do not.

We can make an interesting offer

Meh. Likely not worth the price to move up. I don't really see huge differences between the top 5 or so players.

Depends on the asking price. The Panthers organization obviously isn't sold on Ekblad so how much is it worth for the Flames to go from say a good looking winger like Dal Colle to Ekblad? I don't think it's worth giving up additional building blocks or picks as the Flames will likely draft early next season as well. Most likely the Panthers are looking for immediate roster help to which the Flames aren't a great trading partner.

Listening to Treliving and the drafting philosophy, I can see him trading up for Ekblad.

I'll be happy either way but I think there's a good chance the Flames could do it. Getting Ekblad would bring balance to the prospect pool.

It is not like Florida is in cap hell. I don't think we have the assets. Florida is not going to want 30 year olds like Hudler, Stajan.

Would you want to move Brodie, Sven, or Johnny? If we move those pieces we likely have to include the 4th pick so not really worth it if you ask me.

Edmonton with Yakupov or Buffalo with Myers are much more likely targets for Florida. Perhaps Vancouver with Kesler+6 to get the 1st+Upshall?

I don't see where the flames have movable pieces

Would take some major decisions and pieces, most likely too rich to handle, but imagine a 1st and 4th overall pick in this draft?

If I was going for that pick it wouldn't to move up in the draft. It would be to get that pick and keep our 4th.

I don't think we have the assets to give Tallon what he wants though.

So Florida gets the worst pick and the worse player? What are you an Oilers fan? Why even make an Oilers proposal?

I like the Johnny + Sven idea but they'll probably be wanting proven players.

I don't. Gaudreau is a better talent than anybody in this draft and Sven is just starting to show a complete game combined with his ability to score. We would get raped in that deal bad.

The rights to negotiate with Cammy, Wideman and 4th? They are looking for players who can play now.

Careful on foretelling the effects of the untested you should be.

Sorry CP this opens the door more for Edmonton than Calgary.

Here's the segment with the interview: http://pmd.fan590.com/podcasts/pts/p...ay-1---5pm.mp3

They start talking to Tallon at the 18 minute mark, and Cox asks him about moving the first about 27 minutes in.

It sounds like they'll be asking for a NHL player who can help them now. I don't know if the Flames have anyone who would fill that role.

Would Wideman or Hudler plus fourth overall be enough to pique his interest?

Disagree. They need players who can play now, not young "up and coming apparently" talent.

Any idea what Florida is looking for from a personnel perspective (position/age)?

I wouldn't pay a huge amount for Ekblad. Get Hanifin next year instead.

Campbell and Jovanovski will both be over 35 when the next season starts, and the rest of their d-core is under 25.

A late 20s - early 30s d-man might be on his shopping list.
