Interesting. I can't argue with your choices, but I hope Pat and Michael have huge bounce backs. I'd like to see one of them make it. Hockey gods kind of owe them some good luck.

I can't see how all 5 of the people you selected could be in the line-up on opening night unless they have injuries. Especially since you also have Kanzig and Klimchuk starting the year with the Flames before being sent down. I doubt Kanzig or Klimchuk play any games in the NHL next season and I think Poirier starts the season in the AHL. I would like to see Granlund, Gaudreau and Reinhart all be in the starting line-up but I wouldn't count on it.

I think Poirier will have a taste, then get sent back down. Treliving said there is absolutely no need to rush prospects - this is one of them.

I think Max and Markus are ready to make the jump in my opinion. Emile needs a year in the AHL, possibly makes a 9 game tryout.
Sven might be ready to make the jump back in the NHL and will probably be our top 6 winger. I have so much faith in this guy, already is producing .5 PPG in the NHL and just had to fix himself playing in all 3 zones. He should at least be back playing on the 3rd line. Gaudreau will probably play a 9 game tryout and will stay in the NHL.

If the FA frenzy goes as bad for the Flames as some folk on here think, there maybe lots of holes to fill. In that case, lots of room for players.
Maybe they will fill holes with post camp waiver pick ups if some of the kids are not ready yet.
I'm optimistic that Tree gets a couple of good roster players via FA or trade prior to camp. But 4-5 rookies cracking the team doesn't seem that far fetched.

What is the cap floor expected to be next season?

I think Reinhart makes the team full time next year. Granlund/Sven/Johnny/Ferland/Porier will all push for a spot as well but not full time
Obviously Monahan is already here

Late season call ups is wide open, as the season wears on I am sure they try to get everyone a game or two. The people who stick for me in the late season would be Sieloff and Knight.
I think Billy Arnold is close and will get a few games, but him and Klimchuk both need a full pro year.
I think Poirier and Gaudreau both start down in the AHL more as a precaution. Don't want to rush them, let them get their feet wet in the pro game (even more so). But before mid season they play their way right out of the AHL.

I think Monahan, Gaudreau, and Reinhart are locks. I think Sven will be either in Calgary or on another team. Everybody else is AHL bound.

If Gaudreau has a fantastic camp then I wouldn't mind seeing him start with the big club, otherwise I've already just assumed he'd play in the AHL for most or all of next season to develop a bit more in the pro game. They better not rush him.

Gaudrea will likely get the 9 games then get sent down. We all love him but we can't rush him either. He has a total of 1 pro game. He needs AHL time.

Reinhart would be #1 choice.
Granlund and Johnny Hockey could start the season with the team but doubt they stick all year.

I thought in his case when he played that one game that counted against a year of his contract?

There is so much competition among the young guys on ELC's that no one except for Monahan is a lock IMO.
If still here:
Baertschi
Granlund
Reinhart
...should be among the last cuts, if cut at all. All have had at least a year of North American pro experience and excelled, plus a handful of NHL games where they looked promising.
Ferland if healthy could be in the mix as well.
Also, I'd expect Gaudreau and Poirier to make strong pushes despite their rookie statuses.
Then there are some serious wild card guys....Knight, Hanowski, Agostino, Arnold, Jooris....
Going to be a nasty, nasty training camp. These kids better be ready.

Gaudreau can be sent back and forth from the NHL to the AHL at will next season. The 9 game dealio only applies to CHL players.

Guys who have a legitimate chance of cracking the lineup:
Baertschi, Gaudreau, Granlund, Reinhart, Wotherspoon, Knight, Arnold and Poirier
However, I think that no more than 2 actually will (to start the season). That's okay though, no need to rush them.
The good news is that the Heat are going to be outfrickinstanding next year. And then the real youth invasion will start the year after for the Flames
