Since we're all talking about Star Wars, lets watch the intro to Tie Fighter and remember how it is the best game ever.

All of the X-Wing series were awesome. The Star Wars game I played the most and still up until a couple years ago was Star Wars: Rebellion, I don't know why I loved it so much, as the graphics were horrid and gameplay was clunky, but I just kept playing it.

Man I loved Rebellion, So many interesting things happened in that game. Especially when you had characters betray you. Or when you suddenly find out that Leia can be jedi trained.

Once you tripped on the strategy of sabotaging key facilities it became very easy to take planets.

On the other side your starting move is to build fighters and bombers on each planet that you owned. If you had 20 squadrons of fighters and bombers, no matter how big the attacking fleet was it would retreat.

Once you could build interdictors, you could pretty well chop the enemy down pretty easily. There was a glitch in the game where Interdictors were almost impossible to destroy because they had 4 times the shield strength of a ISD.

But the combat graphics at the time were pretty cool.

I remember having fleet battles against other players where you'd have 10 SSD, 50 ISD 50 Victory star destroyers, several hundred defender fighters and a wack of smaller support ships against a similar sized rebel fleet and it would take forever.

I loved Rebellion.

Sometimes I liked going full dark side and blowing up multiple planets ... screw the diplomacy!

Did any of you guys try Empire at War?

Empire at War was fun but I hated the ground missions. I use to hold back my fleet of Star Destroyers just so I could watch them all warp into a system at once.

Ahhh, Rebellion. I wasted *hundreds* of hours on that, Galactic Battlegrounds, and the Jedi Knight series.

Never played Empire at War, though. Is it worth tracking down?

Yeah, but the forces of corruption add on completely changed the game for the better. The ground combat was the weaker point, especially if you were the empire, once you got the ATAT and especially Blizzard 1 you could win any battle as long as you had anti-air units with them.

I remember playing rebellion, and I had just finished the death star, and went to one sector that was entirely rebel, I cooked one planet and the entire sector changed sides to the empire. It was awesome.

Well I bought Empire at War last night, so if it's not good, I'm going to hold you personally responsible.

jk dawg, it was only $20 for the gold pack.

There's a really good clone war era mod on there as well.

OH man how much time I wasted on Star Wars videogames: Rebellion solo campaigns and battles on a LAN versus one of my buddies, who was predictable enough to mess with (rename star destroyers to "star destroyer 5" and wait for the panic)
Dark Forces through to Jedi Knight Academy

TIE fighter was my #1 though. That kicked arse!

On the movie(s) - I just hope the old characters being present isn't too gimmicky. The more indie/hipster actor lineup means less focus on a big star to be stuck with a pathetic script. If they use any expanded universe storylines, NO VONG - I used to read a bunch of the novels, but the vong killed my interest.

Yeah, I always used to rename my star destroyers, but the later you got into the game and the more star destroyers you had the harder it was to name.

I'd always start with the standard names from the canon like the Avenger, Vengence, Dominator, Emperor's fist. In the end Star Destroyer 200 was the cranky pants, fist full of poop and other ridiculous names.

Nothing was better then the very first mission, when you had to roll over and inspect freighters. Just tipping your tie fighters wings and coming in low on a freighter, then hearing the radio call "Unknown vessels sector XXX" and you retargeted and saw a X-Wing screaming at you.

Such a brilliant game.

I loved X-Wing Alliance. There was a mission where you had to fly your freighter past a blockade and get to a space station to evacuate the crew.

I remember popping out of hyperspace and seeing a massive superstar destroyer with the name Executor and muttering that's Vaders ship. And then trying to fly casual but not too casual past the blockade.

I've also heard the title is "The order of the jedi"

There were some minor leaks to it Luke will be an Obi-Wan type of mentor and not be a major character Han and Leia will be high ranking government officials and the enemy will not be a Sith.

That leak came from a twitter that supposedly came from someone involved in production.

Mark Hamill himself was the one that leaked he'd be there in an Obi-Wan styled role.

I suspect he will play a role similar to that of Yoda in the prequel trilogy. There, but not a focus until later (if at all).

All I care to see are some sweet space battles. Keep the Jedi to a minimum if possible.
