Cloud File Sharing Problem
We currently use Google Drive to share our work files among all our users. Works great except for one part. There are no locks placed on the file when one user has it open, so therefore a 2nd user can open the same file, make chances, save it and when the 1st user does the same, there are no conflicting copies saved, so therefore all the changes made by the 2nd user won't show up because the 1st user overrode all his work with his saved copy.
Doing a Google search, this seems like a common problem with Google Drive.
Dropbox does save conflicting copies, but that gets annoying because you have to figure out who saved what and what the latest updated version is.
I can only find limited information on OneDrive, but from what I've read, they lock a file when a user has it open. This would work great for us.
The other option is Box. They seem to have that option available as well, but the user can lock or unlock as he pleases.
Anyone have any experience with this? The file kind is a drawing from one of designing programs. On our local network they lock the editing part when a user has it open and allows it to be opened as a read only file. When we share it through Drive, this feature is removed.
