A couple of thoughts on strategy.
Kill all the liars - This is a universal rule in a most games. The idea is that lying helps the mafia even when it is a townsman doing the lying. This doesn't mean that you have to reveal your roles or anything else, just don't lie. If you are caught in a lie you should be killed.
Last game we killed off the inactive posters at the start and that worked great for us. I think the reason that it worked so well was because the mafia were new and were working on strategy while we were posting. By the time they realized what we were doing it was too late.
For lynching a player we need to try really hard to avoid casting the final vote before they have had a chance to confess. We all win together so if they are a townie and know anything they should be given the opportunity to speak.

So are you thinking that this time we shouldn't vote off inactive players first? By my count there are only 2 who haven't posted yet, starseed and activeStick.

The big thing that stumbled us in the last game was voting based on posting style changes. Usually people were gunned out of the game due to inexperience and we ended up going on a run of eating our own at one point.
The inactive voter isn't a bad idea, the nice thing is that we have a few days to watch for slip ups, we don't have to rush to lynch, most people don't confess before they die they deny and lie, its usually the only way to save yourself in a game based around paranoia.

gay.
Also, will there be epic meetups of suspicion and drunken accusations? And will one be held in Toronto?

Last time our logic was that losing an inactive player was a good choice because even if they were townsfolk they weren't contributing anyway. It worked in our favour because the mafia were quiet at the start. I think the mafia will avoid being quiet this time around and hopefully they slip up.
I think we need to continue on the random vein for selecting the first round. Perhaps a point value to each letter in the posters name and take the average for each name. The median average value will be lynched. (Hopefully that doesn't work out to be me though)

I think a fair way to vote is in reverse alphabetical order.

Definitely need to vote out based on inactivity to start.

The mafia should know who each other are, so they will be able to get everyone on board to be active, which would increase the likelihood that we lynch a townsperson. Random is probably best.

Nice try. At least my suggestion was complicated enough that people won't think I was up all night designing a random system to implicate everyone but me.

I would be more comfortable with something less random. There is a valid reason for voting out an inactive player, it isn't totally random like what you are suggesting.
We can still use reason when we choose who to vote for on this first lynch. It seems like everyone is walking on eggshells because they don't want to be the first voted out or night killed, so I will put my neck on the line and offer a theory.
I believe our best bet would be to vote an inactive player, or someone who is posting but adding nothing constructive.

Great idea, everyone always seems to forget the silent and invisible "a" at the start of my username.

I am still of the opinion that least active could be successful.
If nothing else we will at least ensure an active game.

The players were incredibly lucky to get off to such a great start last game, it would be foolish to expect that the good guys would have the same good fortune this time around.
I'm leaning towards the pure-random selection myself. Lynching a townie is not worst case scenario. It's not even close.
Lynching scum > Lynching a regular townie >>>>>>>>> lynching a townie with an ability.
87% chance to not lynch a townie with an ability.
27% chance to nab scum.
I don't mind those odds.

Is anyone really adding anything constructive though, this is a complete feeling out process. You can't even talk about suspicion yet because there's no history to go off of.

In my opinion yes, some posts have been constructive and there are already some posts that give me an idication of which way people are aligned. Yes I could be wrong and it's still early, but it's never too early to start paying attention.

Or too early to work together.
