Devils re-sign Jagr (1yr, $5-6 million)
Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
One year deal for Jaromir Jagr with the Devils. Value is between 5 and 6 million dollars depending on bonuses. #tvasports

Bumper, would have liked to see him as a Flame for a season.

While slightly disappointing for the pipe dream of him becoming a Flame, no surprise.

Welp, there goes that option. I feel bad that the traveling Jagrs can't add another jersey.

He was hands down their best player this year. Both impressive from his part and kind of sad for the rest of the forwards. Devils have a lot of dead weight contracts hindering their team like Salvador, Volchenkov, Ryder, Clowe etc.. but they can probably still make playoffs next year

Was hoping the Flames would sign him to a big 1-2 year deal. He has size, skill and has been praised about being a great teammate since he returned to the NHL in 2011

I figured he'd just keep wandering on.
He still hasnt played for the Islanders or Sabres.

With the minimal travel in the NE, I think it was extremely unlikely he would sign with a team out west.

He signed in Dallas less than two years ago. You pay this guy and he'll play anywhere. that's why he went to the KHL.

Sure but that was his first taste of the travel in the west. Not inconceivable to think after realizing how bad the travel was and with his age that he won't consider going back to the west.

According to the interwebs, when he signed with Dallas he said the travel wouldn't be a problem compared to what he had to endure in the KHL. But when he re-signed with NJ last year, he said he enjoyed the reduced travel and apparently told his agent he wanted to stay in the Eastern Conference because of this. Logic and the fact that it keeps being mentioned suggest it is a relevant consideration as well.

Yeah, no kidding. Their travel must be brutal.

He had a great season but lets face it, he's 42 friken years old. for $6 million is there even a 10% chance he tops 60 points again?
That said, he's one of the best ever and hats off to him.

On the Devils? Almost guaranteed. Who else is going to do it?
More importantly, he probably sells more than $6M in tickets.
