I know frequent travelers on here like to think the whole world knows every airport code because they do, but we don't.
Ctrl+T, type in YUL, press enter, read answer. 5 seconds max. Was that so bad? I've learned a ton of airport codes in the last couple years with these 4 simple steps!

EDIT: Thoughts and prayers if you don't use a browser that can do this.

But what's The point of using airport codes in everyday conversation? I don't get it. To me it seems like more of an "I'm so knowledgable when it comes to travelling" hipsterish thing than anything.

I mean, yeah it takes very little time to find out but to be honest I wouldn't do it. I'm also willing to bet 90% of posters who read that earlier post and didn't know what that city was, also didn't bother finding out what it was.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but if you're mentioning a city just say the damn city. Even if you're specifically at the airport still say the name of the city.

I think because he was stuck at that actual airport, and not using the airport code to describe the city itself. I could be wrong though. I read it as them being at the airport.

Or use well known abbreviations

Calgary = CGY or Cal
Edmonton = POS
Vancouver = Van
Victoria = Vic
New York = NY

etc...

Highlight YUL, right click, click "google: YUL"

I'm not actually going to do that though, instead I assume that YUL is Winnipeg.

I know YYC and a few other airports that I seem to go to often enough, but would never say one of them in conversation expecting someone to know where I am talking about.
I did like Expedia's ad campaign last year highlighting different airport codes:

WGMG is the term "So Random" as in "Oh I am just so random". If you are using that term on yourself you are not random you are seeking attention by doing weird things.
The reason that this comes up is a McD commercial where they have a random red couch, (don't ask them why LOL). It is not random, nobody thinks you got a random couch for your commercial.

Still no answer but this is starting to feel like one of those vague facebook posts now.
My guess is that it is something with the initials NG. I can come up with non-governmental and National Geographic. I hope it is the later, I always pictured the Nat Geo photographers with big expense accounts.

this morning rgmg....

we had an appointment with an allergy specialist this morning (our little girl breaks out in hives if she gets pretty much any kind of milk product on her skin... so milk, lactaid, cottage cheese, most yogurts, goats milk). we just wanted to confirm it is only a skin allergy and nothing more serious (she only get the hives where milk products physically touched her skin, no where else)

her appointment was 9:20am. the place opened at 9am

we arrive between 9:10-9:15 and check in with the front desk. finally, just before 10am we get in.... really?!?! come on!! how is it even possible to be almost 40 minutes late that early in your day. it just annoys me becuz i hate being late and always do my best to respect others time when it comes to appointments and stuff like that

on the flip side, we did find out that our daughter just has a skin allergy and she should out grow it. it's also fine to feed her milk stuff, just need to get it into her mouth as much as possible (which can be challenging at times)

Welcome to the medical profession. Every single time I make a doctors appointment, I get in at least 40 minutes late, usually an hour. Their time is so much more important than anyone else's time you know...Drives me crazy. Stop booking appoinytments that take 15 - 20 minutes, 5 minutes apart. I am ALWAYS on time and NEVER get in anywhere near to on time. And if I happen to be late...well, then it's the end of the world as we know it.

(Sing that last line as REM would.)

I hate those doctors. I tore the last one a new one. I had to make special arrangements to get out of the office and get to an appointment that the guy was an hour and a half late for. My time is important, too.

Is that the first time you've been to a doctor? 40 minutes and you're complaining?

aside from that I can't wait until wait times etc get put onto smartphones.

As Hab said above, our time is important too. It happens consistently. It's not like it's rare. And it's crap.

The wait times are sometimes necessary. what if Bob comes in and is suicidal? His scheduled 15 minute appointment just turned into an hour and now every single patient after him is late. Should the doctor tell him "sorry, your 15 minutes are over"? while he's in the middle of "I am depressed and want to die"?

So many reason that are out of the control of the doctor for him being late. If it was up to the doctor he'd be on time and the patient would be in and out in less than 5 minutes but that's not how things go.

If you're right...Joe Suicidal must come in before EVERY visit of mine then.

Or maybe "I want to have an abortion Martha". Either way, lots of scenarios where doctors have no say in being late. Unless you think they should schedule everyone into one hour intervals and they'll be able to see 8 patients a day and be on time for every single one of them.
