Well, technically he said that a "choice has been made". While it sounds like the finalization of the hire is imminent and is all but a formality, I don't think you should ever count your chickens until they're hatched (hence why naming names would not be wise yet).

How about you take your own advice. If you don't have anything valuable or appreciative to say towards people who are providing you with information that they are under zero obligation to provide, then just say absolutely nothing.
Everyone would appreciate it more than you complaining about how you "didn't get enough."

What's the usual etiquette (assuming it is Treliving)? Would we owe Phoenix compensation?
Also, would this be like the time we hired Button and he couldn't participate in the first round of the draft?

Exactly, nobody does. But I don't have the gall at this point to criticise those people's posts that ACTUALLY have value with my own useless opinions that nobody really WANTS to hear anyways.
