Phil won't have that luxury and would be under constant media microscope in NY.

Well Pat Riley had the luxury of signing 2 other good players in Lebron James and Chris Bosh playing along one of the best guard already in Dwayne Wade. I am not sure if there's a James & Bosh equal talents that will compliment Carmelo Anthony for Phil Jackson to sign though.

Donald Sterling was sports worst owner, by far, for a very long time. So it's nice to see him show his true colours when the team finally becomes something so everyone can see what a scumbag he is. Not sure what the NBA can really do here beyond a fine, after all Silver works for Sterling. The old man needs to go away though.

Silver can do something if the other owners allow him to. If the players refused to play due to Sterling I guarantee you the other owners would give Silver the power. The NBA threatened to take control of the team back when he refused to sign players to reasonable contracts, they can do it over this.

It's pretty well known that Sterling is a racist and has said some very outrageous things in the past. As people have said on Twitter this isn't even the worst thing he's said. Taking the team away from him is unlikely and sets a dangerous precedent. Take away some draft picks with a huge fine (like $10 million). I think that's pretty harsh.

And amazingly ESPN has not covered this story at all on its website. Very peculiar...

Anyone know how hard it is to get tickets for a Spurs playoff game? Going to a work conference in SA next week and game 5 is on Wednesday night. I'm not a big Hoops fan but a Spurs and Mags playoff game would be pretty cool.

Durant and Westbrook together have shot 74-198 (37.3%) in the Thunder/Grizzlies series.

It will be pricey. The Spurs are the only pro sports team in San Antonio and Austin (Austin is an hour away). You will most likely have to get it through scalpers/resellers. They have a pretty high balcony level that you might be able to get sub $100 tickets. I would check stubhub.

I don't generally watch the regular season in the NBA (watch a couple games live and catch a couple on the TV), but holy crap if this isn't the worst officiated sports league. Phantom calls all over the place in every game. There was a call in the Hawks game yesterday where Pero Antic was literally not even within a foot of touching the guy and he got called for a foul, because the guy acted like he got fouled. Plus, I feel like the refs aren't letting even the softest contact go uncalled. The playoffs are where they are supposed to let the players play. The officiating combined with the 10 minute breaks to watch replays that I can tell what happened after 1 angle are hurting the games this year. At least with the officiating everyone is getting called on bs so it evens out.

Probably around 2003-2004 I decided to start treating the NBA like what it really is: the WWE. Not totally like the WWE, but you know the NBA will manipulate games as best it can to get the matchups it desires. But now I just accept that calls are going to be made on the basis of television ratings more than the actual correct call. You have those rare moments when a Dallas or Detroit wins a title, but really the NBA is a 6-8 team league. Treat it like entertainment more than sports and it's more enjoyable. Plus you can go wild with the conspiracy theories that way.
It's insane anyone thinks the NBA playoffs are better than the NHL playoffs. Yet every time ESPN does that poll, the NBA playoffs win.

Hardly a conspiracy that the NBA would win in such a poll. ESPN not carrying hockey anymore would tend to have less hockey fans responding to such a poll. Anyone who's watched both sports would say the NHL playoffs is better 7 out of 10 times I'd think.

Yes the NHL playoff is much better than the NBA playoff. The intensity in the NHL playoff is much higher.

It's the constant timeouts, foul shots, reviews, and other bs that ruins the flow of the game. I love it when they go back and forth for a few minutes, but once you get to the fourth quarter, you're lucky if one minute goes by without there being some sort of break in the action.
It pretty much becomes a football game with each team drawing up plays on every single shot, and that simply does not work in a basketball game.

Do you think Sterling days as the Clippers owner are done? I don't know how he can come out of this with Doc Rivers saying he might not return next season with the series tied at 2-2. They probably won't win the GS series. The Clippers players aren't going to put their body on the line anymore for Sterling and that's just human nature.

Atlanta blowing Indiana out again. Could see both #1 seeds go out in round 1 if San Antonio can't turn it around.
