I knew I recognized the name from somewhere. I saw that DD episode where he called his son mid pitch. |

Brad Treliving would be perfect. He's a very hard worker and knows his stuff. With Burke's support, it's a great exec team. McPhee just didn't make sense with Burke in Calgary.
Though McPhee might be a natural fit in Vancouver given his past history there, I could still see them going with someone like Benning or even making a move internally and promoting someone like Stan Smyl.

In seriousness though; By the performance of flames prospects so far, he probably gets anoth GM gig. Yes most of the work was done by Burton's staff, but he invested in scouting and trusted the right people. Probably earns him one more chance.

Doubt it. With the quality of asst gms out there he will be hard pressed to land another gm gig.

Treliving's name has now popped up in rumours for the Canucks, Sabres and Flames vacancies. He's obviously a very popular candidate and I think the interest in him around the league is a great sign.

I have been searching for any connection of Treliving's name to the Vancouver GM search, but have found nothing. Do you have a link to this?

That's from twitter a couple weeks ago, it's the only thing I could find.

		| A name that has surfaced as a top candidate is Phoenix assistant Brad Treliving. There are lots of ties between Treliving and the Vancouver organization plus he may get the backing from the NHL office after working for the league-owned Coyotes for three years | :

@DarrenDreger: I'd be surprised if Wash or Van isn't interested in Rutherford's experience. He may want a break. McPhee makes sense in Van and Cgy.

Flames finally are going to do a proper and extensive GM search, something that's needed very badly.......fitting that the stupid Canucks would come along at the same time and muddy the waters, the pieces of crap.
Muddied the waters at trade deadline too apparently, peddling their Kesler garbage.

"No good" doesn't even begin to describe them.

One thing about Linden is that he's green about the GM business and will be easily impressed by a guy that gives a great interview much like how Dallas Eakins hoodwinked the green GM MacTavish into firing the first head coach to improve the Oilers in years to hire a guy that's in way over his head in the NHL. I think Burke's seen enough where he's going to look past the dazzle of an in person meeting. I feel the guy he hires in the coming weeks/months will be a solid GM so I'm not too worried about the Canucks getting into the mix.

Have anything to back this up with? Or is this pure conjecture?

Is there a part of his statement you disagree with? Looks pretty accurate to me based on the events of a year ago.
