Personally I think the "Hrudey hates the Flames" thing is silly. But Ferraro of the past, and Healy of the present? That's not paranoia in my opinion.

Healy hates everybody, there's no agenda. Same with Ferraro

Ferraro is... okay it's just when... he talks... like this and can't... get a.. thought out without... pausing every two to... three words to collect... his thoughts.. that it becomes very... grating and... irritating to listen to... Gord.

Ferraro has been better the last two seasons, pointing out positives, pointing out the negatives.

In the past he was brutal though.

Yeah that's true. When I edits clips from TSN I often have to take some liberties to clean up the flow.

Nothing compared to what I have to do to make Charlie Simmer sound like he has a coherent point where he isn't stumbling over words multiple times.

Nope, that can't be it.

I never really noticed Ray pause like that. Now that you bring it up, I'll probably watch for it and it'll annoy me too. Thanks a lot! Haha I like his commentary overall though. Way better than Macguire gushing over things and his personality and coach interviews are annoying.

I've grown to really like Ferraro to the point I think he's my favourite colour man. I don't find him bias towards any team in general and he seems to have a better understanding of whats going on from the ice than most. Mike Johnson is probably the best up and coming guy.

I'd rather Ferraro pause and think about what he's about to say and how to convey his thoughts on each play than hear the usual rhetoric out of most colour guys who have become more or less an automated response system according to what just happened.

Haha. He really is the Estrada of colour men though. Everybody sucks.

I like him for the most part, he's a bit too negative at times though for me

I actually hate Ferraro. Not because I think he's bias, he has a hate on for everyone. It's that he seems to take everything so personal. Player in the ice makes a mistake, it's like that player killed his family and he spews venom. I get that his role is to point out errors and good plays, but he comes off with way too much of a god complex when pointing out errors and is just so beside himself that the player could even do such a thing.

Get some perspective Ferraro, would love to hear Ferraro colour himself in his career. He'd kill himself after hearing himself pass judgement on himself.

I'm dead serious. Now don't get me wrong, I love Maher and truly feel he is a legend. But he makes so many mistakes now and IMO it's tarnishing his legacy. Maher is one of the greatest of all time, no doubt about it, but the quality of his broadcasts has slipped a great deal. His abilities have deteriorated and that comes with age.

I do like your idea though, take him out of the booth and put him in the classroom because he is the consummate professional and would be a great asset in that capacity.

I also have little doubt that many agree with me because you are the only person that tried to rip me for saying he needs to retire, had I said this 10 years ago I would have been lynched.

Next thing you'll be accusing him of hyperbole and over- exaggeration.

You think the sportsnet audio synch is bad now, imagine them attempting this gargantuan feat?!

Listening to Loubardias do analysis for the medicine hat - Edmonton game on Shaw right now. Gotta say I would not be opposed to him calling the flames again.

He's an excellent PBP guy, one of the worst decisions sportsnet has made.

As good as Maher is he's not a good fit for TV even if the synch was right.

Can't say I've noticed that overly much in his PBP - at least let's say not as much as Bob Cole, who regularly forgets players' names and is reduced to saying "...and the goalie comes out to play the puck to the defenceman...."

Pete does stumble in his Insider pieces though - they are definitely not what they used to be.

I like the mentoring idea -- imagine if he had been a direct mentor to Rob Kerr; might have been able to quickly teach him about voice modulation etc. Anyhoo, that ship has now sailed.

Pete is still one of the best in the business, and yes, he's aging....he's almost to the day a year older than me!! But I'm still better than the young sprats in my business.

LOL just checked out the 2013/14 Flames yearbook and RSN has an advertisement page of Simmer in that "we know the Flames" type ad they had Kerr doing on commercials. You guys think that 960 Kerr picture is unflattering you have to see this. It's the most unflattering, god awful picture of the guy and no word of a lie makes him look like Frankenstein. Kind of strange they would have that in there and then can the guy but I do realize these were probably done for print months ago.

I have to agree with this. He makes Simmer look like he took too many shots to the head.

I think the best colour guy is Craig Simpson. He's articulate and knows when to jump into things with a comment. He's also concise in his point so the play-by-play guy can get back at it. I actually learn things from Simpson because he has insightful analysis as opposed to Simmer -- I feel I lose IQ points after listening to him.
