Folks are underrating Dal Colle just because he's a winger. Great speed, size, hands, shot. I think he projects better as an NHLer.

Im more of a Bennett fan myself as I like his feistiness, but I keep reading people projecting Reinhart as a 2nd line center and question his skill level, but when was the last time a CHL center put up the ppg he has in his draft year? After a quick look, the last I could find is Tavares.

I think if Buffalo takes Bennett, the odds of us getting one of the Sams is much greater. There's a possibility that the Oilers take Bennett ahead of us, but I can't see them taking Reinhart.
I'm really just hoping we end up with one of them as they'd both be great additions to our team.

Can't think anymore. At the end of the day, the Flames getting a Draisaitl, Dal Colle, or a Sam if going to be a heck of a day for the Flames.

Interesting take... but one that is not shared by any scout whose report or take on Reinhart I have ever came across.
He is known for not shying from the tough areas. Yes, he doesn't initiate contact, but he goes to those areas regularly. He is lauded for his leadership (seriously, where did you get he wasn't???). Wilts when things get rough? Really? Is that why he stepped up his production in the playoffs?
Everyone is entitled to his opinion. I just find it funny that a kid who is complimented on his defensive game so much (and was so trusted by Brent Sutter in the WJCs ahead of Gauthier who apparently was put on to be a defensive specialist - but in the 5-3 PKs it was Reinhart out there and not Gauthier) has outscored many of today's top centers in his draft year.
He is right around most top center's size as well. Everything I have read and seen completely contradicts your opinion on this kid.
I am high on Dal Colle myself - but Reinhart is a big step ahead of Dal Colle at the moment. He does project to be a very good #1 center, and when you compare his year to current #1 centers around the league along with his size, he projects VERY well at that.

Dal Colle is about to be eliminated in an upset in the OHL. They are down 3-0 and being shut down ridiculously by North Bay. They haven't surpassed 24 shots in any game.

So Will Nylander is making a mockery of the U18 tourney and leading the point race by a healthy margin after 5 games (15 pts). While not a guy the Flames need, he could be sneaking into that top 5 and may be a wild card like Ehlers to bust into the top 5 selections.

when watching reinhart (minimal) or reading about him he seems like a mike richards type player. His offense won't blow you away, but he can play and excel in all 3 zones.

Bennett has been compared to Richards as well. Very difficult to judge whether a player's offense will translate to the NHL, but I would be happy with either.
I was high on Bennett early, but I can't help but think that Reinhart is unfairly criticized due to the fact he has been on everyone's radar for the last year or two. Doesn't seem like he did anything to drop in the rankings, but I hope he does fall to #4!

If Nylander becomes another wildcard, it gives us a better chance of drafting on of the Sams
Wildcard #1 - Draisaitl (picked by Edmonton)
Wildcard #2 - Ehlers
Wildcard #3 - Nylander
One of these guys picked before #4 gives us Reinhart or Bennett.

I think it's entirely possible that a team sees Ehlers or Nylander as a game breaker and grabs him early.

I agree with you about Dal Colle but where is this assesment of Reinhart coming from?
I haven't read or seen anything myself to suggest he wilts when things get rough, where is that coming from?
The guy just demolished the Calgary Hitmen, upsetting them in the 1st round of the WHL playoffs getting 17 points in 6 games.
Six playoffs games Seventeen playoff points.

Not a leader? Really?? That's all I see in just about every scouting report.
Quote:
2012-13: Reinhart was Kootenay's leading scorer in his second season with the Ice and was a team captain for Canada's U18 team in both the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial and 2013 World Junior Championship tournaments
|
Quote:
Reinhart is a nice blend of poise, maturity and a high hockey IQ. He's got creative hands, excellent vision and superb instinct in the offensive end. He's able to slow things down and dissect the play. He battles hard and is a true team leader. (August 2013)
|
Quote:
Samson Reinhart is a Canadian major junior ice hockey centre who serves as the captain for the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League. He was selected 15th overall by the Ice in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
|
Quote:
Sam Reinhart's Player Profile
Winner – Gold at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka; gold at the 2013 U18 Worlds.
Cerebral – A lot of Sam’s success comes from thinking the game faster than everyone else.
Leader – Captain of his club team, the Kootenay Ice, Captain of Team Canada at the 2013 U18 Worlds, Captain of Team Cherry at the 2014 CHL Top Prospects Game.

Maybe he means "not a good leader," which would equally as controversial a statement.

His name is Samson? I assumed it was Samuel. Calgary needs a Samson. Great name. Draft this kid!

Shoulda went with Maximus.
Their brother is already named after a mythical creature, so that one is fine.

Also in their "riser" section they mention Nick Wolff:
Quote:
Nick Wolff: One of the few true heavyweight enforcers this year, and he also has pretty good puckhandling skills and hockey sense.

Interesting that Ehlers now outweighs Dal Colle.
