I algo agree with Conroy regarding Draisaitl. I'd be absolutely thrilled if he landed at #4 -- the kid is a beast. I'd be happy with Bennett, too, but I'd give Draisaitl the edge.

Why on earth would you for a second think Burke isn't going to hire a GM when the organization has given him permission to do so? There is 0 reason if that's the case for him not too. You're insulting your own intelligence by thinking he wouldn't.
Burke: "So, you're telling me I can go out, hire someone, who can take care of all the things I don't want to do or don't have time to do, and I still get to be the boss, and have final say on everything that happens in relation to hockey with this club and decide what direction this it takes"
King: "Yup that's right"
Burke: "So it's totally going allow me to free up time and either work less hard, for the same pay, or focus more on things that I'm really interested in?"
King: "Of course"
Burke: "You know what..............I'll pass".
How does that ever happen? You get that new GM isn't going to be Burke's boss right, it's the other way around.

Conroy said he needs to get bigger and stronger that doesn't mean he hasn't gotten bigger and stronger. I took that quote to mean he still has work to do.
Monahan has to get bigger (fill out) and stronger and while he certainly has done both since being drafted he still to improve in both areas.

I don't normally listen to the archived radio shows, but I listened to the whole thing - was a fun listen.

I do find it curious that, if the rumours are true, Linden went to Boston to meet with Benning. It either means Benning wasn't on our list, which I find it hard to believe, or Burke wasn't granted permission and Linden was.

Or it just means Burke isn't ready to hire Benning without talking to other candidates that he has to wait for.

I assume he would just interview them all and then make a decision. Not interview one, like him and hire him on the spot.

Rhett, "So Connie are you going to apply for the GM job?"
Conroy, "No Brian told me not to."

The part about leaving for FA and signing for more money than you are worth in LA. I nearly died laughing.

Man does anybody in Flames management ever have anything positive to say about Baertschi? Can't remember the last time..
They must really think the tough love approach is going to work.
PS and don't jump all over me for reading all this into one small comment, just wondering if there is any hope for Baertschi if even our boy Connie uses the tough love approach.

Or...
Maybe they see the potential in him and want him to succeed.

I think there were some pretty serious attitude issues to start the year and management has been on message since then to burn it out of his soul.
Which is the only approach if Sven is ever going to help this team win.

Did you even listen to the interview? Conroy has lots of positive things to say about Baertschi. And saying he needs to add strength and speed to excel in the NHL isn't really saying anything negative about him, that's just reality.

Probably better if you did instead of relying on posts here. Safer that way. They still like Sven but he really does need to focus more on the game instead of where he is playing. It was a thing for Sven. He bought into his own Hype.

"Burn it out of his soul"? I've got to hand it to you, Tinordi. You certainly have a flare for the dramatics.
The real question is what one would define as "serious". We've seen CP's Freeway, a media member, say Baertschi was sulky when sent down the start the season, he was upset and thought he should be in the NHL. Freeway continued to say that since he was sent down he hasn't heard any of that from Sven. Since then he seems to have totally bought in and judging by his steller play to start the year, and one hell of a game yesterday I don't think the attitude problems are as serious as you'd like to claim.
To me this would suggest Baertschi needed some fine tuning, he got down on himself and needed a confidence booster. You can chalk that up to a lot of things. I've seen a couple theories as to why, a star Swiss player who was always "the guy" on his teams, he never had a rough road to the NHL until recently so he wasn't used to defeat, got down on himself because of it, not sure how to handle it.
I'd again say that's not serious. A serious attitude is Rob Schremp etc, someone who doesn't want to work on the rest of the game, someone who wants to play "Rob Schemp hockey" as an example. Baertschi definitely needed an adjustment in his confidence but he's never been a guy who has had a bad attitude. Sulky maybe but not bad.

i don't get CP sometimes, we all clamour for insider information, but when we get a half hour of it. Everybody talks about what they think of rhett's personality. who gives a damn?
i for one am happy that conroy got absolutely grilled by boomer and his old pal rhett. that was the most informative interview we are going to get all year. and thanks especially to boomer who asked just cringe worthy questions to get direct answers out of conroy.
also everybody likes good guy conny, so great that he's who we sent out to go get gaudreau signed.
