Many male Edmontonians have upgraded to 2011 and have switched from sweatpants to male yoga pants with dress shoes. Get with the times people! Mullets still appropriate, as always.

LOL... just so you know, there is a "toddler" rate advertised (for the waterpark at least, not sure about anywhere else):

Toddler Time
Monday to Thursday Noon to 3 p.m. $12.00

Your one year old will be free but otherwise your three year old will cost $26.95 (not much of a reduction from the regular price of $32.95).

The SUTP has buy one admission get one free for both the waterpark and the amusement park, so if you're doing both, it's probably worth it even if you don't use any of the other coupons (check the expiry date though). I may actually have the amusement park one still -- not sure if we gave it away already.

To be fair, there are a lot of guys wandering around Calgary malls on weekends wearing the Lululemon pants - and not in a good way.

Waterpark is great - it is worth it to rent the inner tubes for the Wave Pool. Surf's Up!

It's funny how the Waterpark is the only thing anyone can ever think of for things to do in Edmonton. That's the only thing my mind goes to as well.

I guess the Legislature is not a bad place to check out either, since that's not something we have down here. Perhaps when that museum opens, that will be another.

Leva is a nice spot to stop in on an afternoon as well, they have amazing lattes and coffee (best in the city in my opinion), and there are enough treats for the three year old. That is likely the best recommendation for around the U of A area which mostly has a lot of pubs and the like for obvious reasons.

There is a place called Cafe O'Play which is a cafe that has a play area in it for 1-6 year olds. It isn't my cup of tea but it may be something of interest to you

In all fairness though, to me, both cities are similar. Yes Calgary is cleaner and seems newer(downtown), however they are not that different. Its not as if Calgary has much more to do than Edmonton. In my opinion, there is not a whole lot you can do in Calgary that you cant do in Edmonton. Vica Versa.

I got some passes from the UA that were like $30 and gave you access to the water park and some other places... If you know some students. Irc that's the best deal.

As a member of the public AMA would probably be your best bet. My wife and I received passes through my union (AUPE) and through my father-in-laws employer.

For the love of god, do not stay in the Fantasyland hotel, it's a #### hole (barring any renovations in the last year) and extremely overpriced. There are a variety of decently priced chain hotels on Stony Plain Road (and 178st - 170st).

For dinner there's your usual family casual dining on Bourbon Street (BP, Moxies, Earls, Old Spaghetti Factory, Tony Romas, and some newfie place - the name escapes me). However, if you drive a couple of blocks there's a bunch of restaurants around Stony Plain Road and 170st. As far as family casual we've had a couple of good experiences at Soda Jerk's (as some of our friends have little ones).

Hope this helps - I don't live in Edmonton anymore, but lived there for a loooong time.

As someone who didn't grow up or was raised in either city Calgary is much better, honestly it's not even close at this point. When I relocated back in 2009 I had a choice of Calgary or Edmonton and I didn't hesitate. Maybe they were close at some point but Calgary has left in Edmonton in it's dust the last 5-10 years.
