Or - had he not tipped it when and in the manner he did - it wouldn't have gone in. Pretty useless statement.

For a second that picture made it look like Iggy was giving a post-game interview in the Saddledome, with the team award winners on the wall in red, the TSN sheet and Iggy in a red and black jacket. Then I remembered he's not a Flame again. That was a nice moment though.

Funny what an hour or so can do to an attempt to be the first to call time of death on something lots are cheering for, based on a bit of bad play.

The Bruins are winning this series, but I'm not confident they're winning the cup.
So my inquiry is still relevant. But please, don't let me stop you from oddly turning this into some sort of .... "thing"?
I'm not even sure what your angle is there.

That's awesome for Iggy! It is hard to believe that was his first playoff OT winner but I guess the Flames only had a handful of OT wins in his time in Calgary.
It was a fluky goal but Iginla made a great pass earlier which lead to the point shot.

Don't worry about me, my "angles" are usually bread from drunk, incoherentness.

Because I'm procrastinating I looked up all the OT games Iggy's been in, he was in 12 with Calgary, with Calgary having a 6-6 record in those games, Iginla got primary assists on 4 of those game winning goals.
In Pittsburgh last playoffs they had 4 OT games, went 2-2 and Iginla had no OT points.
And now in Boston they are 1-0 in OT, with Iginla getting 1 goal.
So totals you have a 9-8 OT record with Iginla, with 1G-4A = 5 points.
I would say those are pretty decent stats to be a part of 5/9 game winners in his playoff OT career.

Yeah..like most tips from that area are going to score.
The thing is he smartly put himself into position to get a damn stick on the puck. Sorry, but that logic bugs me. It's late, as I was on a call when I began posting. The guy got in front and did what goal scorers do.
Sure 9/10 times it deflects somewhere else. So what? So top goal scorers in history never have that happen? It can happen by chance to a 1st NHL scorer, but guys of a Hall of Fame ilk are put in a position to succeed.
Again, tied up on the phone for a late response midway into my post. But give the guy some credit. Surely he's earned it.

Iggy himself said it was a fluke, not sure why everyone is so defensive about it
I am glad they won, can't wait until they smash the Habs

And do you think you are saying something unique and ground-breaking?
I think we know a tip that goes off another player is a "fluke", but it really doesn't matter. Takes extreme skill to even get your stick on a puck so call it a fluke or whatever but there is a reason Iginla practices his tipping skills and he used that skill on that goal.

I did say something unique to this thread obviously it has gotten quite a rise out of people for some reason
I like Iggy and want Boston to win, just calling a spade a spade...the guy had a poor game and got a lucky one in OT (he said so himself)
if there is nothing noteworthy about what I am posting then don't quote it

His line had a poor 1st and 2nd period, good 3rd and a dominant overtime.
I suppose you did say something unique, was stupid but stupid can be unique too I suppose.

Iggy said he "didn't have a good game so was happy to get a lucky one at the end"
so I guess he is stupid or maybe you guys are just Fanboys
