If an 18 year old girl, recently broken up with her boyfriend, and is desperate calls and wants to use your bed, you do it. Well first, you ask for pics, but then you do it. The barter system can be alive and well.

Because us inner-city latte sippers would never lower ourselves to buy something off Kijiji. We leave that to the yop gobblers out in the middle of BF nowhere in the 'burbs.

Incompetent, entitlement-complex, cyclists grind my gears. Yesterday during the after work rush I saw a female cyclist nearly crash through a women and her stroller who were crossing the street at a 4 way stop. The cyclist couldn't be bothered to stop at the intersection and didn't look around to see if there were any pedestrians or cars passing through. It is not just a few bad apples in this city because I find that close to half the cyclists I encounter every day are idiots. It should be no surprise that they get no respect from motorists or pedestrians.

I walk the pathway between downtown and 14 ST during the morning and afternoon rush and it is a pretty scary place because of all the Tour de France wannabe's.

No, sorry guys, I'm not a charity service.

Incidentally one thing that does grind my gears about Kijiji is, why is it that everyone on there has to live in goddamn Narnia? No one's ever remotely central, it's either a-holeville 20 minutes past Dalhousie, or bumtown, southeast halfway to Okotoks.

I purposely list stuff 10-20% higher on Kijiji than I would actually take for it, when the lowball offers come in, one of them is usually pretty close.

That said, half the time those people stop responding after a message like "Sounds great I'll take it, I'm just going out of town for a couple days so I'll get back to you when I'm back."

Downtown pedestrians GMG.

Driving along, chillin, talking to my wife, we hang up, I look down for a moment to move my phone and look up AND BOOM HI THERE'S A GUY IN A SUIT I ALMOST KILLED BRAKES SWERVE SMILES!

I mean hey, if you've got a death wish, cross the street wherever and whenever you want, I don't care. I just would rather not have "killed a man" crossed off my bucket list in such a boring way.

When you are listening to earbuds and you move your hands in front of you to do something, and you rip the earbuds right out of your ear. Even worse when it's winter so you not only have to take your gloves off to put your earbud back in, but the cold combined with the earbud being ripped out causes pain.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. When we moved 2 years ago, we had to get rid of some old bedroom furniture. Listed it for $100, nothing aside from 1 or 2 lowballs. Few days later, lowered to $50, and got the usual flakes who would express interest once, and never be heard from again. Like, come on, seriously? The least you could do is have the courtesy to say, "Sorry, I've taken another look and decided I don't want it, but thank you."

Then as we got closer to the possession date for the new owners of the house, and still no sold furniture, I said screw it, and put the price down to free. Eventually, a couple of students decided to take it, and picked it all up in a U-Haul.

But before that, I had a woman reply to the ad asking if I could deliver it to her house on the other side of town.

What the hell do I look like here? It's FREE, if you want it, drive your sorry ass down here and PICK IT UP YOURSELF!

I think the carpet in my office is supercharged or something. I was listening to music yesterday while working, got up to get something from the cabinet next to my desk. When I sat back down, I got a static shock IN MY EARS. From my earbuds.

WGMG is people in big trucks that have to gun the engine to make as much noise as possible and even worse is the big cloud of noxious black exhaust that they leave behind. I was standing on the corner waiting to cross when some a-hat turns the corner and then has to gun the engine to get to the red light as quick as possible. Meanwhile me and the other two people are coughing up the black exhaust that was left behind.

It actually seems a lot better on Tinder than I would have thought.

That said this leads me into another GMG. I recently broke up with my girlfriend and multiple friends convinced me to sign up for Tinder. Which honestly feels super awkward to use. But here's the other thing: I've been using this for one day now and I already have a laundry list of terrible decisions regularly made by girls when making profiles on this service. Seriously, do you not have one decent, representative picture of yourself? I am notoriously photo-avoidant and even I have a couple of them.

How is this not your fault? Is this a joke or a trolling attempt?

I don't think it's a joke and it's not totally unreasonable either depending on how long his eyes are off the road. There are tons of situations where your eyes are taken off the road for a split second. Someone stepping into the street in front of oncoming traffic at a spot where there's no crosswalk? I'll jaywalk or cross on a red sometimes but I'll be damned sure no cars are inbound.

If we are covering kijiji GMG's I have one.

I listed a really nice glass topped desk for free on kijiji. Had a lot of interest in it over a couple of hours while I was at work, and eventually decided to give it to the first person who responded. She said she needed it for a student that was leasing a room off of them. I really just wanted to get rid of this thing anyways.

I tell her to meet me at my place around 6:00, which with traffic is normally when I arrive home. 5:30 rolls around and I am getting phone calls which I let go to voice mail because I was busy. Basically it is the person sitting in my driveway freaking out on me as to why I am not coming out to help her load the desk into her truck. "I've called you 5 times and rang the doorbell and your neighbours (townhouse) doorbell where are you?"

That should have been my cue to tell her to #### off.

I arrive home when I told her I would be home, and her truck is backed into my driveway.. help her load up the desk. Next thing I know I am turning around in my garage to see her pulling away.

The bitch didn't even say thank you for a free desk which I probably could have at least $60 out of.

Never list for free. You need to make it like $10 to weed out the crazies.

I've listed stuff for free twice. Once I listed an old leather couch. A woman showed up and wanted it, but had literally no way to transport it out of there. Then another woman showed up with a van, so I was basically, "get it out of my hands and you can have it" which led to a lot of upset feelings for the woman who was there first but couldn't actually transport the couch.

Second time I listed a kitchen table and chairs just to get rid of it the day before I was moving and a woman and her daughter showed up, took it all away in their van and were very thankful and happy.

That said, for some reason you continue to get 10 emails a day for the next week even after the ad's taken down from people asking if you still have the free stuff.

I dunno. I have been driving downtown a lot recently, and I just keep my head up and haven't had any problems. My only contention is people jaywalking across 17th Ave in the morning when the sun is shining right in your eyes.

There are just too many things going on downtown between cyclists, pedestrians, and other cars that it is the last place I'd take my eyes off the road or not be constantly scanning around to see what could pop up from around a vehicle that has come to a stop.
