At the start of the season I would have agreed, but he's been dropping in the rankings all season. I track 9 different rankings and in 8 of them he's currently between 26 and 31 (the other is CSS which has him a lot lower - 78 according to the Hockey Writer's site's attempt to merge their different lists). I'm assuming he's had a rough season since he started the season as a mid-first round player.

Connor Bleakley looked pretty good in the U18 Russian game this morning.

Almost no chance Roland McKeown is available in the second round. I'd expect him to go in the first.

I don't know why he's dropped so much. Kind of confusing.
Maybe has to do with the poor showings in the international tournaments.

I'd personally be thrilled if he slipped to Calgarys own pick in the second round. I wouldn't chance it letting him fall to Colorados pick though.

But who would you take in a scenario where Glover, Karlsson and Goldobin slip to CGY's pick? For me its a no brainer in Goldobin. But Karlsson looks real good too . But then there's a big RH D-man in Glover that has the makings of a solid NHL'er. Tough call.

I don't see a world where Burke drafts Goldobin. He's an intriguing prospect, but there's just no way.

Glover seems to have dropped a bit... Do you think that is because he's committed to Boston College next season & could be 2-4 years away from the show?
Karlsson dropping concerns me. He's been invisible for Sweden in the tourneys. Never a good sign IMO.

Everyone seems to discount de Angelo entirely, but 71 points in 51 games is pretty impressive. Sounds useless in his own zone though...

Are there any enforcer type players that we can draft that will be a pretty decent 4th liner once Brian's career is over? Hunter Smith is still the favorite for me.

Smith certainly looks like a 4th line type guy. 40 points in junior when you hulk over the opposition is a little worrying. The guy has skyrocketed up the rankings though... (30th on NHL CS.)

How much does he get to play with Dal Colle, Laughton or Cassells?

This would interest me as well. Is he this year's Michael McCarron?

isn't deangelo the dman that has a lot of attitude issues/concerns dropping his stock?

In any case, in my NHL14 be a gm, i draft deangelo and vanier in the second round, and they turn out solidifying my top4 within 4 years 'if it's in the game, it's in the game'?

I really like Vanier, for the record.

In the 1st 40 games he had 15 goals from the blue line. Behemoth D with cannon of a shot. Then he injured his shoulder & his stock has plummeted.

with our second, I think this franchise needs a kid like Lemieux. He doesn't have to be a super pest to be affective but it'll help. If he turns out somewhere in the middle of Marchand and Gallager(sp) then I think it would be well worth it.
For the record, I would be on board with trading a couple picks for a higher pick. If we could get the #1 overall for our first and a second and maybe a prospect or a second and a third for a late first (if there is someone we really like) then I'd be on board with that too. I think we need some high end prospects in the system.

isn't Johnny still a prospect? I think if we were to offer the #4 overall pick, the #34 overall pick and Johnny then the panthers wouldn't really laugh. (I'm not saying we should but since I said "and a prospect" and you laughed I figured I'd defend my post)
If you're going to quote me, get all of the quote.

If he's going in the 2nd or 3rd round then no.. that is where you pick guys like that. He was draft eligible last year as well and didn't get picked. Although his birthdate was Sept 11 so he was one of the younger guys.

I wouldn't expect a ton of offense from him... but if you can replace a guy like Westgarth with someone who can actually play, its an improvement.

I would assume he's playing with some of those guys since he isn't on the 4th line. Not sure why we need to lump Cassels in there as someone who might be causing a big point jump. He's a 3rd round pick... not some kind of elite mega star who would drag a players points up on his own.
