Default 18-Year-Old Girl Rushed To Hospital From 24 Sussex Drive

‘Intoxicated’ 18-year-old girl reportedly rushed to hospital from Prime Minister Harper’s residence

Quote:
The RCMP have confirmed that Ottawa EMS was called to the Prime Minister’s residence at 24 Sussex Drive last Saturday night as media reports said an 18-year-old girl needed to be taken to hospital for severe intoxication.
Quote:
RCMP would not confirm who the call was for, only that it was not Stephen Harper or one of his family members.
Quote:
Harper has two teenage children, including his oldest son, Ben, who will turn 18 later this year.

Methinks Ben might be in some trouble from Dad over this one.

Teen drank too much at a party thrown by another teen.

News at 11.

Now, if it was Harper who was throwing the party with 18 year old girls invited...

I agree.

I realize it's not that big of a deal but I knew it would be in the news for a bit so I thought I would post it.

Teen drank too much in the official residence of the head of government.

News at 11.

Regardless of whether you agree with it or not, it's newsworthy.

Does anyone else find it odd that this story is not being covered by CBC?

EDIT: I found it buried well down the page in the Politics section.

Add to this, the legal drinking age in Ontario is 19.

They were in a private residence though. What are Ontario's drinking laws pertaining to being under the legal age in a private residence?
I know in the US 29 states allow this if given parental consent and 6 allow it without parental consent.

I would assume that Ontario is like the 29 states and this girl probably had parental consent given that there would be tons of people around the house (RCMP included)

As much as I dislike Harper... harping (no pun intended) on this is no better than Conservatives condemning a grown man smoking a joint with friends in his own home.

Kids go to parties and drink too much. It happens. Now, if the old buzzard happened to be there and was part of this "party", that might be another thing, but when I was a teenager we got drunk in people's houses and their parents didn't even know about it.

Also it's like a 10 minute drive to Quebec where the drinking age is 18. While I would wager a bet there was some underrage drinking go on there's always that to fall back on.

Kids drinking at a party, perhaps illegally, something a great percentage of the nation has done.

Someone has to much to drink and needs medical help. Kids have two options

A) freak out, don't call 911 since daddy is PM, and you will be in massive crap and cause embarrassment for your father
B) realize someones life is at stake, call 911, and better be safe then sorry.

Without more details, who knows if this is the case, but on the surface, I would say congrats to the kids. It is obvious what the right decision is, but lots of 18 year olds are pretty stupid, without the pressure of a dad in that role.

Good on the kids getting someone help when they needed it, despite any potential consequences.

Other than that, I don't think this is a story.

This beckons back to the stories of "back in the day" when my two room mates at UBC went back to Ottawa for Xmas break. One was the solicitor generals son and the other was the son of the Governor General. A Sasky Governor General. Pilsner was the beverage of choice of that queens representative! Hilarious stories. I hope the girl is alright.

Stephen Harper says he's tough crime, but doesn't even know when underage drinking is occurring in his house. Stephen Harper...he's in way over his head.

Random kids can get drunk at the PM's house? Isn't there some kind of security detail onsite all the time, or do they just sneak in thru the back fence?
