Monahan is awesome. His goal against NYI to tie it is a thing of beauty. And jeez he displays some insane hand-eye coordination on a lot of those goals. So glad we took Mony over Lindholm

Thanks AC, love to watch these. I honestly got a bit distracted by all the rookies in the line up at the end of the year that I forgot about so many things that had happened.

It's awesome that our 6th overall pick did that well, it gives me unrealistic expectations for our 4th...

(Bear with me, I am pretty sure I repeated myself a few times):

What I really noticed about Sean is that he is not playing with the same line mates every single game. On the wing I saw Hudler , Baertschi, Colborne, Galiardi, Glencross, even Granlund was on the wing as well. (Someone can add others that I possibly missed).

TJ was a part of quite a few of Monny's goals, which is why I wouldn't mind keeping him for another year to see if he bounces back from this year's disappointing season.

Galiardi if signed can also be a potential LWer, I really liked what I saw from him, he just needs to be better next year... Many LWers to pick from, I'd probably pick Sven and Johnny with Markus being in third. As long as you keep Joe or Jiri as the RW, I think you can slot pretty much any LW for Monny and Jiri/Joe.

I really liked the chemistry of the Baertschi - Monahan - Hudler line, they really need to reunite. A line I want to see in the future is a Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne line.

Having a tough time saying that we won't see 25-30 goals next year from Sean. I think he can hit a 40-50 points season next year.

I think the reason he was so effective with guys like Baertschi and Galiardi is because they both like to drive the play up the ice. It'll be nice to see how much confidence Sven has gotten with his play with the Heat recently. I wouldn't mind keeping them together with a guy like Colborne on RW. A second line of Gaudrau - Bennett/Reinhart/ - Poirier would be unreal to watch as well.

Not a big fan of having 3 rookies on a line. No matter how good they are coming into the NHL, they will get their heads beat in possession wise when they play in the NHL.

Try altering the video a little. Just like when people shoot a TV segment it becomes their "Art" and it doesn't get removed.

A few thoughts (some have already been mentioned):

-Galiardi looks pretty good in this video. He's always had good possession numbers, but whether it's a lack of offensive tough or poor luck (or likely a combination), the goals just weren't going in. Kind of an anti-Tanguay. I wouldn't be horribly opposed to giving him another year, even if just as a guy we want a young player to beat out for a roster spot.

-A high percentage of Monahan's goals come from his excellent positioning, call it 'right-place-right-time'. Lots of rebounds, redirections from in close and the like. Speaks directly to his smarts, knowing where he needs to be to score goals. This also means the sky is the limit, as these goals will continue to pile up, and he'll only start scoring more as his speed and shot improve. Give him a strong slapshot (only his 'chop' goal could really be counted as a slapper), and you've already got a deadly offensive weapon at 19/20 years old.

-Bob Hartley's smile/nod/fist pump after Monahan's final shootout goal against LA is awesome.

Thanks for another great vid AC. 18 minute smile on my face and a semi for next season already. I'm excited to see Baertschi back in the mix.

Monahan is like a fricken Jedi out there; his hockey brain must be up there with the very best. He never has to blow past people with blazing speed; he never uses anything other than a snapshot; he gets to where the puck is going to be, gets perfect positioning against a defenceman or 2 and then snaps a shot in the smallest gap left by the goalie. A couple of beauty dekes and power moves in close were really slick, especially his goal against Isles on Nieuwy night which was VINTAGE Nieuwy. His plays to set up the goals are really great and he makes goalies and defencemen over-commit with the simplest drop of the shoulder or head-fake.

The force is strong in this one.

This is something that doesn't really tend to happen. Goons (even decent ones hockey-wise like McGrattan, would be a drag on a skilled combo like Sven-Monahan or Johnny-Monahan. At the beginning of the season, we saw Baertschi with Monahan and Hudler/Stempniak. Sven's 'demise' was his lack of commitment to a consistent, 200-foot game, not a lack of goon.

That said, I agree that splitting our small skilled wingers might help in board battles.

And they would be given a chance. I'm just not a fan of leaving a space open for Granlund, Reinhart or whoever. Those spots should be earned over players of Galiardi's caliber. Plus TJ is a known quantity who we could get for cheap and short term. Not gonna say I want it to happen (or that it should happen), but it wouldn't surprise or upset me.

Haha this was my thought exactly. I mentioned that his only 'slapshot' goal was the slap-chop top corner. Kind of strange, and I'm not sure why exactly.
