This is exactly what I thought as soon as the Fan started firing people. There's got to be some SAIT/MRU/UofC students that would chomp at the bit for some pro-bono air time. Maybe a couple people that can do some sports-specific shows (NBA, MLB, etc..) to fill the time and give the hockey guys a break.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that he was re-joining TSN in NA this year?

My guess is we're getting Rhett Warrener as one of them. Book it.

The thought of this makes me absolutely sick, and is therefore very likely 100% correct.

January rumors - Steve Simmons:

Keep hearing that Paul Romanuk is returning from Europe to take the No. 2 play-by-play job with the new Rogers Sportsnet team. That gives Rogers a nice 1-2 punch with Jim Hughson is expected to be the No. 1 man.

Don't see him committing to the grind of having to travel with the team at all.

Seems to me Brent Krahn is positioning himself for a media job in Calgary. He has the gift of the gab.

Makes sense. Romanuk was a staple for TSN in their early years and while he isn't amongst the greatest by any means he's pretty solid.

Yeah he's a good talker. For all we know he could be the next Flames color man.

The guy can barely commit to working a half-hearted 2 hours a day now, I just dont see him doing the daily grind of following the team around.

Meh, the Sporsnet budget issue is a whole other thing. The guy comes across as uncaring even when he's there. Doesn't seem to have much passion for the job.

to be fair, if I worked 8 hours a week, I'd be annoyed if those hours were spread over 4 days starting at 7 in the morning too.

Depends on how badly you needed and/or liked the job I guess.
Mortgage payments are fantastic at getting people's asses out of bed in the morning.

as a person, i'm very sad to hear that kerr and simmer are out of jobs
as a flames fan who watches most broadcasts, i'm ecstatic there's at least the possibility i wont be bored to death by the most dry color man ever, and dont have to hear such terrible catchphrases as:
keep your feet moving
as i/you mentioned
WHERE IS IT
squeezes his body together
Good luck to both of those guys, but good riddance

I haven't heard anything since that twitter post, so definitely still rumour at this point. At least I'll keep the tag rumour till actual news comes out.
