Niagara had 80 more power plays than Peterborough (and 39 more PP goals). If you even that out... Ritchie starts to pull away.

...that's what happens on bad teams. Monahan picked up 50% of his points on the powerplay with Ottawa last year as well.

I think it's brutal that posters are claiming Iginla is/was a secondary piece...what a load of crap...have people already forgotten how good he was?!!
There was a window (albeit brief) where many considered him the best player in the league...and the only reason he didn't lead a team to a cup is because the ref didn't see the puck go in.
It's true wingers are not usually the Drivers, but Iginla proved there are exceptions ( as did Howe, Jagr and Richard before him).

I hope other GMs feel like some of the posters on here and don't want to take a D-man with a top 3 pick

Has anyone claimed Iginla was a secondary piece? I think Iginla with the Flames was pretty much the pinnacle of what you could accomplish with your best forward by far being a winger. They were a bounce away from winning a cup in a year the team went on a magical run but after that the team was never really an elite cup contender. That's not Iginla's fault as he was never paired with an elite center with the Flames.

I have a limited NMC... there's a (long) list of teams I won't accept a trade to.

Yes, he's been used as an example...along with Ovi and a few others.

The Bennett dream may be dying. The Oilers Ministry of Propaganda has switched their love targets.
Bob Stauffer @Bob_Stauffer 36m
One Eastern-based hockey-type said Sam Bennett is a driver like Brendan Gallagher except bigger, meaner and better...i'd have time for that!

moon has been suspended, and has no value.
Better yet, he retired... You might want to get a better offer for MMF.

90% of Oilers fans want Bennett. Management was never going to go against the grain.
I say there's zero chance we get one of the top 3.

Dal Colle it is I guess?
Draisaitl is still a good possibility, I wouldn't mind him, he's got good size.
What a shame Bennett will have to play for them...

NO. You want Draisaitl Stauffer, you are only allowed to pick Draisaitl.

It's likely going to be Dal Colle or Ritchie... significant drop from Bennett.

Not necessarily, I thought Stauffer was pumping Murray 2 years ago and they went with Yakapov. i may be dead wrong on that tho.

Because that's who the Oilers wanted. Katz vetoed the pick just before the draft.

"Significant"? I think you are overstating the difference between #3 and #4 here. All four of Bennet, Ekblad, Draisaitl, and Reinhart have spent time in the top-three.

Considering the positions they play and the value I expect them each to have in 5 years or so... yes, it is a big drop.
With that said, the Oilers will rush Bennett to play next season even if he's not ready.
