did Mark mention where he predicted the teams to finish at the start of the season? he had Oilers in a wild card spot and Calgary last in the NHL with about 50 points.
So based on his pre-season rankings the Flames had a great season and the Oilers well...
He also did a commercial where ha said Nail Yakipov was about more that just awesome "cellys." That says it all!
Cuthbert called the first round series vs. Vancouver as well as the WCF vs. SJ, Whitman called round 2 against Detroit, and Bob Cole did the SCF.
Whitman was one of the best, I loved his call.
Small change...Cuthbert did the first two games of the SJ series, then Cole took over from that point on, in 2004.
But yes, Whitman has some of the classic Flames calls. 1986 vs EDM. 2006 vs ANA (OT goal from McCarty) '93/'94 Vancouver/SJ (losses but 7 game exciting series)
As for Flames sponsors, I really don't have much problem with the commercials...yes, heavily repeated, but watching NFL football every Sunday you see the same thing over and over in game and week to week there. Those sponsors and their $ are the real reason that there's 60+ Sportsnet games on TV.

So if this rumour has any weight...Kevin Quinn and Louie Debrusk will be out of work too then? Not that I care, but they are awful.
I doubt that as the Oilers are likely extremely happy with the Oilers crew who go out of their way never to criticize the Oilers and make even a blowout loss sound like a couple of bad bounces were the difference. Those guys are pros at working through the losses and constant misery while keeping their chins up and being positive even when the only positive many nights is when the 3rd period mercifully ends.

Someone mentioned Pinder being a decent play by play voice. Anyone know where I can find a snippet of previous experience from him? Wouldn't mind taking a listen.
Edit: Found a little something. He doesn't sound that bad. A tad better than what Kerr and Simmer were able to bring. Sounds like he needs a little more experience from this vid, but it's a few years old.
