Could use a few fighting tips from Big Ern though, he lacks the jab with the jersey clutching hand that McGrattan uses so well.

This guy looks like a nutcase and a complete dirtbag. I'm glad he will be playing for us and not someone else in our division!

If McGrattan is on a line with 2 Germans, I really hope he doesn't do this salute again.

Wolf + Draisaitl.

It's all coming together...

Baertschi - Draisaitl - Wolf

...Baertschi would feel pressure, but remain neutral regarding his feelings towards his new linemates.

Still looks like a total DB.
We could use someone who's a total DB. As far as hockey teams go, the Flames have been among the nicest in the league since Phaneuf was traded.

Yeah - we really have lacked that "edge" that almost every other good team has since Ville left town.

Part of playing on the edge means sometimes you accidentally step over it - and are held accountable for stepping over it.

...that last video was pretty greasy. Can't imagine Hartley nor McGrattan would condone such actions on our team - and because of that, I believe Wolf would act accordingly.

I don't know about this Wolf guy. He seems kind of dirty.
Big Ern was not always respected around the league the way he is now. Pretty sure he was one of the bigger pieces of crap in his first few years. A lot has changed for the big man. Maybe being mentored by McGrattan is the best thing that could happen for Wolf?

Perhaps the German McSorley for the German Gretzky?

Interesting theory, but Burke also gave Wolf a tryout in Toronto before, so he has been on Burke's radar for a while. Probably just a coincidence. Plus, Draisaitl speaks perfect English, so he doesn't need a "German" mentor really.

We need an edge, bring him in on a 2 year deal...see what he can do in the NHL.

Just pick up Heatly in the offseason as a UFA, draft Draisitl, bring in Wolf and bring back Carsen, and we'll have almost a full line of German-esque players.

I thought Europeans were supposed to hate fighting? Looked like everyone in the crowd was cheering to me.
I want to see Hartley start this guy next time we play Vancouver just to see Tortorella's reaction.

A myth! Football hooligans should answer that question quite easily.

I meant on the playing surface, not the stands, LOL.
I remember when someone took my neighbors that immigrated from the UK (Liverpool) to a hockey game. They moaned and groaned about the fights on the ice and how terrible it was. I shot back with "yeah, it must have been terrible having to watch the fight rather than actively participating in it".

It's tough to call the guy a dirtbag and a thug so soon before even seeing him play.

When's the last time the Flames had a pest? Ville? Fleury? Maybe Prust? It's been a long time coming that we get a kind of player like this.

I would very much welcome the signing. What's the risk?

Worst case scenario, he looks out for the kids on the Heat for a couple years.

We need to have "good" dirtbags if we want to win eventually. Back when Chicago first won, they had Burish who would just be a royal pain in the butt every time we'd play them and I'm sure every other team had similar fun with him. Same thing with Boston with Lucic and Marchand. Just annoying players that can throw the opposition off their game.

I agree that Wolf being a jerk is not a bad thing necessarily.

McGrattan is the best at what he does, but outside of when he scared Ribeiro ####less in Phoenix this season (for going after Glencross in a scrum) he does not go after non-fighters in the slightest.

Its what made Tortorella's claim that he was protecting the Sedins even more ridiuclous.

Has an edge this team is missing. I was hoping ferland could come and help fill that void next year but his injury likely hurt his progression a bit!

I have no doubt that the culture of this team will help wolf exceed should he find his way here and into a roster spot.

Definitely could use a pest to frustrate teams while Poirier develops.

Based on his rather pedetrian numbers in a 3rd rate league I think it would be the guys in the farm teams division that should be glad.

I understand he would be brought in not for his points but he certainly doesn't seem to bring much to the table at all and surely there is going to be someone who can be a pest and play hockey, at least play hockey better than this guy.
