Mack is now signed long-term to the Browns under the terms he agreed to with the Jaguars - terms that make him the highest paid center in football. [Score]

As a Jags fan I am pretty disappointed Browns matched, but good look to Cleveland in trying to keep all their big guns now.

How are the other two Jags fans taking the news?

So when do the Niners cut ties with Aldon Smith? This is starting to get ugly.

I'd love to see a documentary done that shows war rooms on draft day.
I saw it and would say the love story doesn't really get in the way although it is a boring/stupid side plot.

What I don't get is why use all those analysts/NFL guys and never ask them for their opinion on the football aspects of the movie.

I understand a real draft movie where nobody trades and the day is spent arguing over guys the movie goer has no idea about but the trades in the movie are pretty terrible even by message board fans trade proposals and the GM's are portrayed as morons who seem to have as much football knowledge as an alien who just landed on the planet yesterday.

And Lesean Mccoy couldn't make the JV football team at a Canadian All Girls Highschool team. That scumbag.

I've cheered for the 49ers since 1981 and it was really easy for a long time. Then there were many dark years to test the resolve of fans.

After the Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary debacles, it was nice to see them become good again, to actually have hope every Sunday.

But to see players being so blatantly stupid - I don't know if it is the new era of players where they have been coddled and put on a pedestal for so long that they don't thing the laws of common decency apply to them, or if the pervasiveness of media and social media means things that may have been buried or were on back page in local paper are now almost instantly known everywhere.

And it is happening across the entire league, be it PEDs, or DUI, weapons issues, spousal assaults. I find I just don't care as much when I can't respect so many players.

I'll still be a Niners fan; I couldn't imagine cheering another team. But it definitely decreases my interest in the 49ers and the NFL overall.

Per reports - here is what Aldon Smith said to get himself in trouble:
Quote:
According to Sgt. Ortiz, Smith was going through screening when he asked the TSA agent, “Are you going to search me further?”

Smith was told, “That’s not necessary,” according to Sgt. Ortiz.

Then, Smith responded, according to Sgt. Ortiz, “Why not? I have a bomb.”

And rumours out of Santa Clara are that the 49ers have lost patience with Aldon Smith and odds are that they will cut him and eat the $3 Million dollar loss (roster bonus to be paid) that Smith has received.

Team officials who were quick to stand up for Smith after his DUI and subsequent rehab stint are not willing to defend him this time. The feeling is that he got himself into this and it will take a lot to regain the team's trust. Probably more than he is able in a short time. It is expected a 2015 team option that must be decided by May 3rd will be declined. The team will wait out the legal and NFL proceedings and then make a final decision.

Not necessarily relevant in this situation but I hate the atmosphere in pro-sports where its " Crap that guy is into trouble outside of football, better cut him and remove all ties from the organization.".

Wish teams would actually take some responsibility in these situations to try and work with the player to get some help to help fix the problems.

^^^dont get me wrong Matt...but...when does a mufti-millionaire player have to learn to manage his own issues? Its not like he couldn't afford 3 or 4 Psychiatrists to help him "work it out". I'm sure it is spelled out in his contract, be a good boy, don't do this and don't do that, or we will cut you. I'm sure his agent also tells him to be a good boy and don't say you have a bomb in your pants when at airports. FFS.
Im also quite sure that each team has a battery of psychs and life teachers at a players bequest...they just have to decide that they need to use them.

How is this different from any other profession? The are many companies who have personal conduct policies.

In this case reports coming out say the team have decided that there have been too many second chances already, including a few that never came to public attention. So while there is a chance the team will welcome him back, at this point it is up to him to show the team he is worthy; the ball is in his court because up to this point the team's support hasn't resulted in any changes.

Seahawks obtain Terrelle Pryor from Raiders. Could be some good injury insurance or a piece of a trade package.

I was impressed with Pryor in the game I watched him last year, and that's saying something because I loathe the Raiders. I think it's a great move for Seattle for a 7th round pick.

NFL schedule came out today. Colts with 5 prime time games which I'm pretty happy about, starting things off Sunday night against the Broncos which will be another great game I'm sure between two of the AFC's top 3 teams. Colts schedule looks like another 11-5 season with an AFC South championship
