I am really warming up to the idea of Dal Colle.

I think he'll score the most goals in the NHL out of the top 5 forwards in this draft.

Which is A-Ok by me... I figure we'll want to hold most of our bullets next year anyways. Put Gaudreau in the AHL for at least the first half of the year, Bennett (or whomever) in the CHL for the whole year, Sign a few Free Agents to 1 year deals to make the cap floor, see what we have in the more tenured prospects, probably draft high in what's considered a very deep draft. Then the year after we unleash the hounds.

I think at 4th you hope someone drops, if not I like Dal Colle as well. Draisaitl, everything I read sounds good, just a gut feeling......

As far as we go 1. Bennet 2. Dal Colle 3. Draisaitl
Biggest knock on Draisaitl is his consistency and battle along the boards.
Colle IMO is going to be the best player coming from the draft. He is magic.

No, I'm saying I want a power forward on the right side of a Monahan/Gaudreau top line. I'm not saying that Dal Colle isn't a good player, I'm saying that we need a highly-skilled power forward. I'm trying my hardest not to use "truculent," but Brian Burke is right in that regard. Power forwards get penalty minutes, it's just the cost of doing business for playing that style of hockey. Players that don't get penalty minutes are not power forwards, I don't care what size they are.

We spent 16 seasons trying to get top-line quality skill to play with Iginla. Well, (I think) we have it in Monahan and Gaudreau. Now we just need to get them an Iginla to play with.

I'll be happiest with Bennett or Dal Colle

Would be okay with Draisaitl (there are definitely aspects of his game to get excited about)

Would be disappointed with Ritchie.

I would hope that they aren't drafting to just find a winger for Monahan and Gaudreau. Take the BPA and if thats not the guy to complement those 2 then the onus is on the GM to find the guy via trade or free agency.

Drafting by position is one thing but I don't think it's that smart to favour a prospect according to projected line combinations.

Dal Colle seems to be the pure goal scorer in the top 5 this year and probably the closest thing to Iggy in that regard. Going off of projected line combinations, Dal Colle - Monahan - Poirier seems to have what you need. idk

Question for those that have watched Dal Colle, who's his linemates? Is he seeing most of his icetime with Cassels and/or Laughton? Saying that, would you say his numbers this season are a bit inflated because of those two players?

I think Colborne is doing just pretty well with Monahan imo.

I thought the exact same thing the other day.....Wouldn't it be nice if Gaudreau could play with Iginla on his opposite wing ....I don't think the Flames could go there, so I certainly agree with your assessment of need.

This kid looks incredible. What hands, agility and shot. And not too bad at setting up team mate, either.

1:05 and 4:10 are beautiful.

I think Poirier, if he develops as expected, could be the best fit for the Gaudreau/Monahan line. in a year or two, he's gonna put on some weight, and be roughly the same size as Iginla, and plays that gritty power forward role.

If Backlund is going to continue to play a strong defensive game, we need another top 6 offensive Center, if Reinhart somehow slides to number 4, we could have a solid forward group in a few years time.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Poirier
Baertschi-Reinhart-Klimchuk/Colborne
Agostino-Backlund-Colborne/Byron
Bouma-Granlund/Arnold/Knight-McGratton

Then why do you have him behind Bennett? Just curious.

Attitude or something?

Dal Colle seems to rely a lot more on other players getting him the puck.

He is listed as a left winger but Dal Colle seems to playing on the right wing on most of those plays.
