Default Recommended Out of Province Inspection shops / Auto Body for bumper cover

Hi fellow Calgarians.

So my wife decided to bring our other car from Ontario (important info as I can tell they are harsher on inspections with cars plated for Ontario than, say, Sask).

And I've got mixed opinions about our bumper. Wife decided she didn't want to pay attention back in Ontario when parking in a garage and dented our front bumper. While the damage is relatively cosmetic and not too bad (it's hard to tell it's dented when more than, say, 10 metres from it), I've been told different things as to whether or not this would cause a failed Out of Province Inspection.

I don't assume most people know the intricate details of OOP requisites (the list is probably ridiculously long), but does anyone know reputable OOP shops that may be separate from body work? Or if they only know from experience, maybe a body shop that does OOP inspections (there are many) and has a lesser chance of BSing us into forking over for a new bumper cover+paint job if we don't yet require it? We're wanting to put it off for a few months if possible (have 90 days on the inspection from when vehicle entered Alberta) because of having to pay for too much other stuff immediately, and trying to keep credit utility reasonable.

I did search the forums and noticed a few topics on this subject, and while they were useful, they're also on the older side.. trying to get any up to date information.

Inspect-a-car is pretty good. Easy to deal with and they just do inspections so it's not like they will try to be overly hard on you just to get some extra work out of the job.

I looked at reviews for them and they got decent reviews. So I called them and asked them a number of questions, the gentleman answered them without being condescending or dismissive as was the case when I contacted places like the Canadian Tire shop @ Northland Mall.

Not only that, but they said it was like $149 for the inspection (I've seen cheaper, but the importance of not trying to bum extra work out of us if we don't need it now is far more important), if I fail I had 10 days to fix whatever caused the fail to get a second inspection free of charge. So I made an appointment with them, we'll see how it goes. Costco is nearby so have an excuse to go get some more vodka.

Thanks again!

So after getting OOP done with them, it turns out your post was 100% correct. They are good people and now I too would recommend them for anyone who needs their OOP or any other services they cover. Too bad they don't have general repair/body work services as well, otherwise we would go with them regularly.
