Monahan and Bennett down the middle would be huge.

Agreed, walking out of the draft with a Reinhart/Monahan, or Bennett/Monahan combo would be insane.
Hell, Bennett/Monahan/Backlund/Stajan as your centres is pretty damn awesome.

Now that this lottery is over we have two months of stress until the draft!

We should prepare for plan B If Oilers come to their senses.
Really wish Burke pumped the Germans tires more.
I think Dal Colle if the top 3 go in order

I'm still happy with Draisaitl or Dal Colle, I hope the choice is one of those two if the Sams are gone.
A part of me thinks it won't be.

I feel like the oilers will certainly take reinhart or bennett and it will be tragic. Their track record says they will go for the flashiest offensive guys, but they are desperate for size up front and defensemen.
Those two guys are great but they are both average to small sized. With a forward core already committed to yakupov, hall, eberle, nugent, gagner and perron, calling them small up front is like calling tyrion lannister a little short. Their top 6 has got to be the smallest in the league.
Add another small skilled forward into the mix who will be in their top 9 for years (even if they are scrappy like bennett or perron)... They are going to get pulverized and Gadzic can only fight so many battles for them.
Picking Draitsaitl would make sense for them and be good for us. Do the right thing Oilers.

That interview made me want the flames to pick Draisaitl. Sounds like Marr thinks he will be a beast of a centre in the nhl.
Also Dal Colle got some heavy praise too, something along the lines of most room to grow of any of the elite guys and already pretty damn good.
This seems to have turned into a pretty good draft after all, real happy the flames are picking 4, still wish we had another 2nd/late 1st for Cammy but it wasn't to be.

Sam Bennett wears Gilmour's #93, is coached by Gilmour, and apparently plays like Gilmour.
He's destined to be donning #39 in a Flames jersey.

A question for those who've seen Dal Colle play a lot. Do you think it would make sense, if we take him, to ask the Generals to move him to center next year the same as Tampa Bay asked Halifax to move Drouin to center from left wing?

i admittedly know very little about the prospects and how they compare. I have a question though.
People are stating that draisatl is a fit for the oilers because of his size, but doesn't bennet's playing style really fit more with the kind of guy they need in their top 6 (skill and a heavy/gritty game)?

Ross McLean on the FAN960 right now.
-Top 4 is Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett, and Dal Colle.
-Not sure about Leon. Says he can dominate games. Compares him to Getzlaf and Malkin.
Says he does not show up every game.
-Reinhart does not wow, but has been dominating his WHL games. Compares him to RNH.
-Bennett is extremely competitive, extremely skilled, but can be thrown off his game.
-Loves Dal Colle. Says he is one of his favourite players in the draft.

I've been back and forth with this top 4 or 5 all year.. definitely a good year to be drafting top 5 as there doesn't seem to be too big of a gap. I would argue that 1 or 2 guys could be projected as higher than the rest, but overall you aren't seeing a clear cut #1 pick.
Outside of the top 5... and especially the top 7 or so, it starts to fall off dramatically IMO.
Definitely a horrible year to stock up on draft picks.

I think it more falls of at about 14. There are going to be some very good prospect taken in those picks. Then it falls off pretty quick.

No. He is a pure winger. The guy dal colle reminds me of, is iggy. He's kind of slow, too slow to be a centrr. But get him the puck and he will smack it home.

I think one of the reasons Draisaitl might appeal to the Oilers over Bennett is that he has NHL size already.
6'1'' 204lbs for Draisaitl
6'0'' 178lbs for Bennett
General consensus is that Bennett needs at least a year to fill out, while Draisaitl could potentially be in the NHL next year if he shows he can keep up with the speed and therefore have more of an impact for the Oilers looking to improve sooner rather than later.
But I agree, Bennett's playing style could potentially help the Oilers in the long run.

I think you're on the right track though, in that is two/the years too far away for the oilers?

If the Flames draft Dal Colle you pretty much have to trade Sven at that point. Hopefully a Bennett or Reinhart is available.
