Found out my girlfriend has a handful of mutual friends, one even used to work with him. They all went to the same high school a year above the suspect. His sister they know and is the same age. I believe (not 100% sure) he worked at the Safeway I always go to.
This is just so crazy

Probably should dial it back until he is actually proven guilty in a court of law. He is a suspect at this point. That is all anyone knows.

Your posts in here are very odd. They know a fair bit more than that. At the very least it appears that he committed the acts here. The questions remaining are why, what was his motivation, and was he in his right mind (as much as a person who kills five people can be) at the time. Among other things.

My older brother played hockey with Zack Rathwell and 3 players from that team have died now. Truly unbelievable. I've met his dad a couple of times and they seemed like a really nice great family. Devastating to hear.

I just went to check out their band's Facebook page. It's filled with lots of pictures and videos of the band.
Lots of excitement throughout the page. Lots of posts from fans, friends, and family congratulating them on their CD and their most recent live show.
Seemed like such a happy time for those guys.
Thoughts with all those affected.

It sounds like the issue isn't whether he did it, like many mass murders, and more about how to handle the situation. I'd suggest we await to hear the circumstances, but if he's the one every witness says saw him do it, the only issue is why he did it and how long he should spend in prison.
EDIT: Let me add, if there's a doubt he's the one he should get the benefit of the law, but at least now it sounds like its not a case of whom but rather why. If there's a doubt as to whom, sure, make no official judgment until he's tried... that being said... as a potential future law student he's about to learn the law from a far different perspective than it seems he planned. It doesn't make sense yet.

Schizophrenia is not a defence.
In the future, killers would be smart to have 'schizophrenic episodes' and admit themselves into a hospital and have it documented.
Then go out and commit pre-meditated murder.
After being charged, use the "I had another schizophrenic episode' defence and after a few years in a mental hospital, you will be back out in society.
Perfect.

A co-workers daughter was at the party. He said she saw everything go down and the guy knew who he was attacking and the incident started all over a girl.

If true, was the female victim the girl? Could be... the four guys probably weren't all fighting over her, but perhaps one or two. The others could have been their friends and supported them?
Either way, here comes the 'sexual pride' term brought up earlier in this thread...
