They were valued prospects last year too.

Yuck.
But easy to blast the guy after the fact with hindsight at our disposal.
We also could have had Todd Harvey instead of Iginla as well.

HOLY CRAP I'M RELIEVED. You don't even understand how... wow.
I have difficulty buying the notion that Kenny is actually this dumb. He's given little indication of that level of Milburyness to date. I trust Bob but... man, that's a tough one to swallow.
|
This dumb?
Babcock used Bouwmeester a ton in the Olympics and pairing him with Krineall would have been a great top pairing. Kronwall isn't Pietrangelo but that is stud pairing.
People talk about Detroit drafting but they are great at getting guys in trades to come in and be much better than what people thought.

I'd hire Stryker Steve to try and go find him so we could have a word with him, but, y'know...

Meh.. What was Nyquist last year? Thought of as a good quality prospect, but few thought of him as this good. Looks bad now, but as a poster stated above that pushes a lot of small guys into the top 6.
I will reserve judgement until I see Poirier pan out more. Looks bad now, but it may look good in the future.

not trying to defend Feaster here, but nobody expected Nyquist to go on a roll like this ... not even Detroit as they obviously were ready to ship him out. It's easy to pile on Feaster now after Nyquists breakout season.

Hindsight is 20/20. That is, unless you have Feaster Vision.

Well I remember people on detroits board hearing it was nyquist or Tatar and a second maybe a mid rounder too. But not both. I really fricking hope not.

But in retrospect...FFS

it's one of the bad luck scenarios, not a single person in the world thought Nyquist would be doing what he is right now and he can still very easily regress some too.

Yes Nyqvist didn't look as good as he does now but he still looked a lot better than the Berra/Cundari combo and Tartar is worth a late 1st easily.
Now it looks like a no brainers but at the time it still looks better than what we got .

For sure they were valued, but having an extra year to evaluate them probably magnifies how bad fans might feel about rejecting such an offer. Either way, we still have time to see how this shakes out long term with Porier and our second from COL.

I think Poirier will be come a fan favorite and in 5 years it won't look like such a bad trade anymore.

24 and 25 gets them close to the UFA years as well. I can understand why Feaster went with the St. Louis package from that standpoint as well.

I don't catch many Wings games but don't Nyquist and Tatar play on the top 2 lines with Datsyuk and Zetterberg?
If so their numbers would certainly have been much lower here and people would still be complaining.

Is this confirmed at all? Not saying McKenzie is making stuff up, but is this actually what he said:
Quote:
"I've heard that the Flames could have had Nyquist and Tatar for Bouwmeester or another player but chose not to"
|
The quote doesn't make sense. What does "Bouwmeester or another player" mean? Chris Butler?!?
I'm guessing it was one of Nyquist or Tatar, plus a pick (some above have suggested a second rounder). Happy (or not) to be proven otherwise...

Nyquist and Tartar were brought up because Datsyuk and Zetterberg were hurt. They replaced them they don't play with them.
