This is what Burke must've meant when he said Feaster didn't get the full value in his trades upon review.

Nyquist wasn't Nyquist yet, but he was still a really solid prospect.

In Feaster's defence, neither Tatar nor Nyquist were one of the best goalies outside the NHL at the time.

And that was his public comment. His comment upon review was probably
"What in the HOLY ####?!?!?!?!"

Was thinking the same thing.
If Feaster made this trade a year ago we would have blasted him for not getting a first round pick in return.
Would have been criticized for adding two more small (both are under 6') LWs to our prospect base and getting two older prospects in return (23/24 years old).
But in retrospect...FFS

I like the Poirier pick. I don't see why his upside won't be similar to either Tatar or Nyquist.
We really have to make that 2nd rounder for Berra count now.

Feaster really screwed the pooch on our two big trades last year. Holy jeez.
To think if he were even semi-competent we could have had Nyquist, Tatar, Koko, Bartkowski, and *still* probably picked Poirier with Boston's 1st rounder.
Instead we got Berra, Cundari, Hanowski, Agostino, and Klimchuck.
I like Morgan, but ye gods. That's Millbury bad.

Let's just hit that 2nd rounder out of the park this year and forget anything ever happened.

I was curious about my stance on this from last year and if I was really all for it.

... hoping for a 1st + one of them. Both would have been hilarious.
This is why we can't have nice things.

So who was saying that in 10 years we would look back on Feaster's tenure with more appreciation? LOL.

Doesn't mean Poirier can't turn out to be a good player.

I've been a defender of Feaster here but... brutal. Just brutal.

where was Porier ranked? Could we have got him with our other 1st round pick we got from Pittsburg?

Draft Pick
|
It is not fair to evaluate this offer a year later and having seen what Nyquist and Tatar accomplished.

Apparently another team (Montreal?) was going to take him just after the Flames took him so he wouldn't have lasted until the Penguins' pick.

A year ago Nyquist was already recognized as Detroit's top prospect.
