BREAKING: City of Abbotsford terminating contract with Calgary Flames' farm team, Abbotsford Heat-
Quote:
Global News has learned major changes are on the way for the Abbotsford Heat hockey team and its contentious relationship with taxpayers.
Sources tell us the City of Abbotsford has terminated their contract with the Abbotsford Heat, but whether that means there will be a new contract or the team will be moving remains to be seen.
The city has called a press conference for Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
There are rumours the Calgary Flames farm team will be moving to Glen Falls, New York Civic Centre, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Conroy said with Sieloff having missed the whole season he didn't think they'd bring him back in this late. Just let him train all summer and come in next fall ready.

Nineteen-eighties style. Best players make the team, regardless of contract or veteran status.
That's what I want to see (within reason of course).

Yeah, unfortunately if too many young players are better than the veterans it will be impossible to keep them all up on the NHL club. I wish a team could be below the cap floor and just pay the difference to the NHLPA at the end of the season.

Great opportunity in later summer to pick up some overpaid vet that could be useful to us and perhaps grab a 2015 pick at the same time in a cap dump situation. So many teams close to the cap you'd have to think someone will be desperate to dump a contract.

Keegan Kanzig has signed an ATO with Abbotsford, according to the AHL transactions page!

Yes! Bring the pain! (Despite the fact I can't really look at him as a tough guy after seeing him pretty much laying on the ground trying to sign my daughters jersey and having a hockey talk with her despite the fact she's 7)
Also, shows that Poirer has been assigned to the Heat as well!

Spoke with Kanzig this morning. He's a really good guy and holy #### he's a monster!
He said he's 6'6" 245 now not in skates! He's a freak of nature. What really surprised me while watching practice is how mobile this guy is. Obviously he doesn't have great acceleration, but he can move quickly and has good top speed. Between his reach and stick, he takes away a solid ten feet of space on the ice. Good luck getting around that.
His quotes will be in Monday's Heat Report.

The black aces skating this morning were Kanzig, Gordon, Sieloff, Roy and one other guy I didn't recognize.

Should we expect to see him draw into a game? Or strictly a black ace?
