Not his best work but that building would at least be talked about in Calgary, good or bad. People hated the Eiffel tower once too.

I agree, the Hearst tower is not anywhere close to Foster's best work. I find it somewhat awkward the way it sits on the older podium.

For those of you that visit ssp.com, look out for my rendering of Arriva tower 1. I thought I'd give it a try with a hard one.

Also, as noted in the skyscraperpage forums, the Global Petroleum Show is on the 15th as well. If I'm not working at our booth I'll make sure to be there that morning. It would be cool if they unveiled it at the GPS. "Look what we did Imperial!!!"

Hmmm, I'll be at the show also.. Are you saying this might happen on the 15th at the show? If so, I'll be at the unveiling as well.

I personally think that Burg Dubai is rather bland. Sure it's tall, but the design itself isn't really that groundbreaking by any means... just an unimaginative version of Frank Lloyd Wrights Mile High tower from the 50's.

What it lacks in imagination it makes up for in sheer size. I don't think pictures will do it justice but to stand next to it will be rather impressive.
Turns out, ill be at the GPS all 3 days so lll have to see if EnCentre is revealed there.

So tomorrow is the day right? Here's hoping they announce it at the GPS. Looks like I picked the wettest day to go.

OK, so has anyone heard anything? Were the drawings released anywhere?

I heard something about the 21st now (just some second-hand discussion). This is one of the single most anticipated announcements I can remember in this city in the last decade.

That would dwarf all the buildings in Calgary. Little big I think. 65 floors absolute max I think.

Have they begun construction on the condo complex in south calgary by heritage station? When finished, it'll be 4 or 5 towers I believe... It'll fill in that area nicely. Traffic will suck though.
